Casablanca (1942)
CAST: Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Paul Henreid, Claude Rains
DIRECTOR: Michael Curtiz
MPAA RATING: NR
RUNNING TIME: 102 Minutes
STUDIO: Warner Brothers

Sensational drama set during WWII. Rick (Humphrey Bogart) is a saloon keeper in Casablanca whos been in and out of trouble very often. Once his old flame, Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman), shows up in his saloon, he does his best to steer clear of her. With the German army getting closer to invading Casablanca, most of the French public prepares to leave. Bogart, in a surprising and brave manner, manages to help Bergman and her husband, Victor Laslow (Paul Henreid), leave the city before its too late. There are many memories from this film, including a couple of well-known one-liners. Heres looking at you, kid and Louie, this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship, which is the last line in the movie.

No one can forget the movies theme song As Time Goes By. Bogart, who received an Oscar nomination, and Bergman deliver excellent performances. Claude Rains, who plays a police chief, does a very steady job. His acting netted him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. The poetry like script fits in nicely with the incredible direction of Michael Curtiz. Youll laugh, youll cry, and most of all, you will be very pleased with the story. Winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture, CASABLANCA is regarded by most critics as the greatest movie of all-time. I happen to agree.
