Russell and Quinlan are a couple moving to San Diego. Their trip is unexpectedly interrupted when their car "breaks down". A trucker stops, and Quinlan rides off with him to call for help. Funny thing is, she doesn't return. And Russell risks his life to try and find his wife.
This movie borrows alittle from DUEL, the great Spielberg flick. This is one of those movies where you have to guess, along with Russell, which people are involved with his wife's kidnapping and which aren't. The suspense keeps building throughout the movie and reaches the climax during a very exciting car chase finale. Director Mostow keeps the pacing upbeat, with twists and turns around every corner. Russell's cycles of expression are done in a great way. He's curious one minute and terrified the next. J.T. Walsh gives another smooth performance as a mysterious trucker. |
