The Webber family has spent the last 35 years in a bomb shelter. Christopher Walken, who plays the mad scientist father, firmly believes that a bomb was dropped near his house and he decides to keep his expecting wife down below until the radiation settles. When his son Adam (Brendan Fraser) arrives, he is brought up on Perry Como records, re-runs of The Honeymooners, and family values.

After the 35 years have passed, Fraser decides to go up and find a girl, specifically from Pasadena. He winds up with Alicia Silverstone, who's a hardheaded LA gal. Fraser and Silverstone don't hit it off at first, but eventually she begins to fall for him after he struts his stuff on the dance floor.

Very predictable romantic comedy leans more towards the humor than the romance. Fraser plays yet another likable character in Adam Webber. Silverstone plays herself, again. Good amount of laughs for the first hour, until the romantic part slowly begins. Dave Foley plays Silverstone's gay brother. He provides some comedic relief, but the rest of the jokes go to Fraser. Light-hearted most of the time, BLAST FROM THE PAST is a decent movie.
