"Big Momma's House" borrows some from "Mrs. Doubtfire", but ultimately is a very different movie. The big difference is there's no fake, mushy, "get you to cry" scenes. This is the ghetto version and it stars Martin Lawrence, who's an FBI agent going undercover to find out about some stolen money.
Lawrence knows about the crook's ex-girlfriend, and goes to Georgia, where she's headed, to be disguised as Big Momma, her grandmother. All 350 pounds of him must try and find out where the money. You really have to appreciate the comedy Lawrence provides this time. He's doing it in a gigantic prothetics suit, which has to be extremely uncomfortable. And he's not just telling jokes, but he's doing quite a bit of physical comedy. This is far more amusing than his last film, "Blue Streak", which was an absolute mess. "Big Momma's House" provides plenty of laughs and has an interesting story. "Big Momma's House" won't win any awards, but for 90 minutes, it'll keep your attention and keep you laughing.
