Air Force One (1997)
CAST: Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman, Glenn Close
DIRECTOR: Wolfgang Petersen
MPAA RATING: R
RUNNING TIME: 118 Minutes
STUDIO: Columbia

When Air Force One is taken over by terrorists, it's up to one man, the President (Harrison Ford), to stop them. He must risk his life and the lives of his family in order to keep Oldman and his crew from carrying out their plan.

Big box office hit features some very exciting action scenes. In addition, the f/x are terrific. Ford is very convincing, and tough, as the Prez. It's one of the few movies where the President is tough and not just a target. Oldman plays the bad guy to perfection. Is this guy the best bad guy or what? Glenn Close is the Vice President and his sorely miscast. She adds nothing to the excitement and is really just a hollow figure on screen.

The finale is exciting and very intense. Director Wolfgang Petersen (IN THE LINE OF FIRE) knows how to blend the action with the suspense. Even though the movie primarily is set in 2 places, Petersen never makes it noticeable. AIR FORCE ONE is a big step above the typical "terrorists on airplane" movies. Great fun.
