Movie
VARSITY BLUES has one great thing going for it, it delivers
the football scenes. They're loud, they're exciting, and they
are very realistic. It's a believable game that they're playing.
Of course, there's not much else going on that really is
interesting. Sure, there's plenty of parties and girls, but
seeing what high schools kids do after a game isn't too
exciting.
Disc
Lame menus, 1 stinking trailer. Well, that's it for the features part. One thing Paramount does right is its transfers. This beautiful anamorphic transfer proves what that extra touch does for a film. Great colorization is shown throughout. This is quite simply one of the best transfers I've seen. With any teen movie, you know the soundtrack is gonna kick butt. The bass from the movie will make you think you're at a club. Plus, those booming tackles offer up nice surround and bass sounds. The features are non-existent, but the technical aspects of this dvd are great.
Overall
This is a pretty fun movie. Yeah, this is another teen flick, but at least this one has great football scenes in it. And this one doesn't have all the cliches from other teen films. Recommended if you like football or teen flicks.
