Movie
Harrison Ford and Anne Heche survive a plane crash and are forced to hang around on a deserted island. In this romantic comedy, Heche works for a New York magazine and she's taking a vacation with her fiancee, played by David Schwimmer. Ford is the pilot who takes them to the island. When Heche is forced to go to another island for a photo shoot, she and Ford begin their journey. Both are hilarious on the big screen and work very well together. Without them, this movie would drown very quickly.

Disc
This disc is as bare-bones as they come. Touchstone's lazy effort is easily noticeable once you put this in your player. Drab menus, combined with the trailer makes this a useless disc in terms of features. The sound is adequate, although not as strong as it should be. Surround effects are pretty much non-existent, which leaves the front channels with not much to offer. Most of the movie is dialogue, but when the action scenes arrive, there just isn't any feeling in the audio field. The video, unfortunately non-anamorphic, is pretty darn good. The movie's lush cinematography is captured nicely on the dvd, though if the 16x9 enhancement were there, this would be demo material. The gorgeous shots of the ocean water can only be experienced like this on dvd. Still, the anamorphic transfer would have bettered that.

Overall
Had the movie been loaded with features, it might have been a recommendation. Yes, Ford and Heche are great leads, but the formulaic plot hampers any value the movie has. This standard release is as dry as the sandy beach the two crash on. Rent it and then decide.
