Movie
This movie brought the horror genre back to life. Huge hit features a solid young cast including Campbell and Kennedy. Has one of the most frightening beginnings in recent memory. Definitely for horror fans. Ample amount of humor as well.
Disc
All of the good features are on the collector's edition. The only thing here is the theatrical trailer and audio commentary from Craven and Williamson. Pretty standard stuff. The soundtrack is great. All the bumps, clangs, and stabs are crisp and well heard. Dialogue is smooth and easily heard. Very good overall. Almost excellent. I did notice a small amount of spots here and there, but in all a pretty clean transfer.
Overall
This will please all horror fans with its slick humor and gory death scenes. Better than it's sequel. Has a terrific opening scene that will bust your eyes wide open. Recommended, only if you don't want to pay more for the Collector's Series..
