Disc
This disc was handled with delicate care. It's one of the best I have seen. The animated menus are fabulous. They're done very professionally with Williams' terrific score playing in the background. The features, though small, are more than adequate. Besides, most will buy the disc simply for the movie. The highlight is the documentary. No Spielberg commentary. Darn!

The audio is the main attraction. That first battle scene will be demo material for all to see. The surrounds are used effectively, maybe more than any other film on dvd. The bass is supercharged, with lots of bombings and explosions providing most of the damage. In all, an excellent mix. The video is crystal clear with strong colorization, when needed. The film was shot with faded colors, to give it a pale, hazy look. No artifacts are found on this first big release from the master.

Overall
You should already have this disc. One of the best all-time movies needs to be in that collection. This is Speilberg's first blockbuster to hit dvd and hopefully it'll greenlight his other gems. A spectacular disc.
