Film
Aside from being scary, this film doesn't have a cheery ending either. It's downright spooky. The film has some classic scenes, such as the one where the little girl kills her parents. That scene was horrorific, just imagine what it was like in the theater 30 years ago. Since this was released years after Psycho, it was probably a little easier to digest by audiences. The only thing digesting in this film is the flesh that the ghouls are feasting on.

Features
A great package from Elite. The highlight is obviously the 2 audio commentaries, both are entertaining, though the first one (with Romero) is better. They point out nice tidbits about the filming, etc. Also featured is the short parody "Night of the Living Bread", which is silly, but funny. Good stuff here.

Audio
The track has been remastered, thanks to the THX logo, but it still suffers from just being old. There are occasional break-ups in the score, but in all, it still sounds pretty good, and it's much better than that crap that was created for the Anchor Bay release. There are moments when the bass is actually used.

Video
Wow! What a great transfer. This baby looks sweet, with rarely any blips or dust. It's funny, when this movie loads, you get the opening scene playing, in all it's beat-to-hell print glory, then the Elite logo smashes through it, and then we see the real print.

Now, there are minor problems, but this only happens in the first 8 minutes. Some of the frames were lost from the original negative, so there are very, very subtle freezes in a few scenes. This won't take away from watching the movie, but the freezes do exist.

Overall
There's about 100 different versions of this movie out, but this one, from Elite, is the one to get. It has the best audio/video quality, and the best extras. Stay away from the others.
