Michael Mann is the man behind this great crime epic. Yes, epics can be made out into crime stories. They don't all have to be about war and romance. This is one of the best caper movies you will see. Everything in it is solid: the action sequences, the timing, supporting cast, etc. The movie is filled with big names. The list starts with Pacino and De Niro, and ends with the likes of Jon Voight, Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore, and Ashley Judd. It's one of the better casts you'll find in a movie.

What may be the best message from the movie is how your work can destroy your relationships. Pacino's obsession with catching the bad guy drives his wife away from him. The same goes for Kilmer. His wife, played by Judd, is fed up with his lifestyle and wants out. I think the relationships are the backbone to the movie.

Features
With such a large running time, all Warner could cram on here are 3 trailers.

Audio
Never mind the meak features, this is the real catch. A clean track with nice mixes in bass and surround. The bass dominates, however, especially during the flubbed bank heist. For demo purposes, be sure to have this one handy.

Video
Though the movie is only 5 years old, the print has a little age on it. There are some grainy scenes and some parts appear to be a little too dark, but this still looks very good. It's a very detailed transfer, and it's anamorphic.

Overall
One of Mann's better movies. Crime dramas don't get any better than this. Highly recommended.
