Movie
This movie doesn't dazzle with its
acting or script, but for its keen camera work and creepy plot. Definitely one of the classic slasher flicks, this movie has sparked movie studios into making other films of this type. Its theme music is almost as chilling as Michael Myers himself.
Halloween was the most profitable independent film of all time, but now it's second after THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT.
Disc
What a great disc this is. Let's start with the menus. Wow! The animation is super and with that Halloween music playing, it makes it that much better. The features are great. I loved the documentary. Running at nearly 30 minutes, it offers great detail about the movie. It features interviews with Jamie Lee Curtis, Debra Hill, and the master himself, John Carpenter. It offers up some very interesting points about the film, some points that I had never heard about. The audio was remastered and you can tell. The sound is much stronger than the VHS version. The music thunders and roars, making it scarier than ever. The video is not quite as perfect, there are a few nics here and there, but given the film's age, it's nearly perfect. Anchor Bay, great job!
Overall
The 2-Disc Limited Edition set was released 2 weeks before this one. If you're not a die-hard Halloween fan, then this version is right for you. It has the same features as the L.E. But I'd say most will want the "very-hard-to-find" limited set.
