Movie
This movie doesn't dazzle with its acting or script, but for its keen camera work and creepy plot. Definitely one of the classic slasher flicks, this movie has sparked movie studios into making other films of this type. Its theme music is almost as chilling as Michael Myers himself. Halloween was the most profitable independent film of all time, but now it's second after THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT.

Disc
This LIMITED EDITION has the exact same features as the single restored version. Still, just knowing you have 1 of 30,000 discs produced is kind of neat. Plus, the tv version is also included, for the first time ever in widescreen. Gotta love that. One word for the menus: Wow! The animation is super and with that Halloween music playing, it makes it that much better. The features are great. I loved the documentary. Running at nearly 30 minutes, it offers great detail about the movie. It features interviews with Jamie Lee Curtis, Debra Hill, and the master himself, John Carpenter. It offers up some very interesting points about the film, some points that I had never heard about. Too bad that Carpenter commentary couldn't be on this disc. Criterion supposedly didn't sell the rights to it off of their laserdisc. You idiots. The audio was remastered and you can tell. The sound is much stronger than VHS ever thought about being. The music thunders and roars, making it scarier than ever. The theatrical version is in dolby digital 5.1, while the TV version is in its true mono form. The video is not quite as perfect, there are a few nics here and there, but given the film's age, it's nearly perfect. You won't see Halloween any better than on this dvd. Anchor Bay, great job!

Overall
Is it worth $20 dollars more for 12 minutes of footage and a little number stamped on the back? Um, it is for the die-hard fans like me. You can't go wrong getting the single version, as it is identical to this one. If you wait too long, you may have to settle for that one, as the L.E. are going fast. If you can find the L.E. version in a brick and mortar store, you might as well get it. It's only $5 more than the single. I have number 28,465 out of 30,000.
