Film
Robin Williams won an Oscar for playing the therapist that
works hard to help Hunting achieve his dream,
whatever that may be. The movie will be called a drama,
but it has plenty of comedy. Damon and Ben Affleck, the
other writer, created a marvelous script and a brilliant
story that landed them an Oscar for Best Original
Screenplay. The film's overall structure has a good feel to
it and it is entertaining throughout the entire two hours.
There is a lot of enjoyment to be found in this gem from
Miramax.
Features
This disc easily bests the movie-only edition. There's alot here, even more so than most Miramax Collector's Series titles. The featurette is pure fluff, but it clocks in around 7 minutes, so you get a tad more clips of interviews than on most featurettes. There's a commentary and 11 deleted scenes, which has optional commentary.
Audio
Unplug your sub-woofer and cover up your surrounds. This is 100% dialogue driven. Everything is geared towards the front. For a movie that is so talky, the 5.1 mix was nicely recorded. Even during the very quiet scenes, you don't have to turn the volume up to hear the actors.
Video
Let's get it out of the way. No 16x9 support. Okay now, this image still looks excellent. I can't believe how much color was in this movie. Having seen it on VHS, I didn't know color existed until I saw the DVD. This is a dark film with some shades of orange. The print is clean and free of dust and grain. The transfer is completely flawless.
Overall
This is the more enticing version to get. It has loads of extras and a beautiful picture. This spruced-up version is alittle more pricey than the standard release, but the features are worth the extra penny.
