With 11 minutes of footage added in, "The Exorcist" is an even better film. Actually, it's a more complete film. And with the addition of the "spider-walk" sequence, this movie is that much scarier. Still scares after all these years.

Features
This disc is very light on features, especially compared to the special edition of the original cut. Aside from some trailers and tv spots, we're treated to a new commentary by the director. Friedkin is very informative, as long as you can get past his dry delivery.

Audio
This track has been remastered yet again. It's one of the best remixes I've ever heard. This movie sounds like a new film. Lots of bass throughout the picture and this movie is a great way to show off your surround speakers. There are tons and tons of subtle sounds coming from left and right.

Video
This looks to be the same great transfer that the original release got. Not many specks and the color isn't faded too much. There's only on occasion where the picture bleeds a bit, but nothing to vomit up pea-soup about.

Overall
I prefer this version to the original. This is one of those occasions where the additions help the movie. It's light on features, but watching the film with the spider-walk scene makes up for it. And not to mention that terrific 5.1 soundtrack. Highly recommended.
