Film
The reason why this is one of the better gangster films is because of its characters' performances. The chemistry between Pacino's aging wise guy, Lefty, and Depp's up-and-coming mobster Donnie Brasco is solid. If you didn't know going in that the Brasco character was an undercover FBI agent, you'd assume Brasco was the son of Lefty, a father just showing his kid the ups and downs of being a wise guy.

Features
Released a few years ago as a movie-only addition, "Donnie Brasco" has been re-released as a special edition and it sports some nice features. You get a fairly dry commentary with director Mike Newell, as well as a new informative documentary on the making of the film (23 minutes). The original featurette is there and a handful of deleted scenes.

Audio
The package says 5.0, but my receiver said the subwoofer was present. Doesn't matter, this is a quiet character study and is dominated by dialogue.

Video
A perfect, or I should say, another perfect transfer from Columbia. The print is as clean as they come and everything looks crystal clear with great detail and color.
