The intensity level goes through the roof in this story about 2 Navy officers who receive an uncofirmed message that may or may not say to launch nuclear weapons against Russia. Washington and Hackman are superb onscreen as they battle over how to run the submarine. Hackman is particulary vicious as the commander of the sub. Tensions stay 100% in what is a terrific thriller.
