"Chicken Run" is a terrific story about chickens on a farm who are ready to fly the coop in search of a better life. All they do is lay eggs and if they don't produce, they lose their neck! Led by a clever chicken named Ginger, they come up with several ways to espace, but none ever work out. Their hope is a former circus rooster named Rocky, who crash lands into the coop after fleeing his act. It's up to Rocky to teach the gals how to fly in hopes of them finding freedom. Lots of laughs here.

Labeled a "special edition", this dvd offers up a commentary by the directors. What's even more interesting are the 2 behind-the-scenes featurettes, which show you how they did that great looking stop-motion animation. It also features interviews with the cast and crew. Very well-produced material.
Audio
DreamWorks has given "Chicken Run" both Dolby and DTS soundtracks. I always prefer DTS over Dolby. The choice was easy again this time. The DTS track is deeper and crisper, offering up better surrounds and a wider range. Lots of subtle sounds in this film. All the bells and whistles you'd expect from this studio. Great mixing.
Video
Is this the best looking dvd ever? It's very close. "A Bug's Life" and the "Toy Story" movies looked fabulous, but this movie might look a little better. It's a 100% perfect transfer. The video offers rich colors and the detail is terrific. If you have a widescreen tv, you're in for a treat. If you don't have one, you're still in for a treat.
Overall
This is just one of the best overall dvds out there. Highly recommended for a purchase.
