This movie was a decent hit for Lawrence ($60 million). It would've probably made more money if it had been funnier. Lawrence didn't have an Eddie Murphy or a Will Smith to play off of this time. He just isn't strong enough to carry a movie by himself. He still hasn't reached that "Murphy" status. Luke Wilson plays the straight man as Lawrence's partner. He provides some comic relief, but his character is so underdeveloped that you'll forget he's in the film. If you're expecting action, you'll like the film. If you want comedy, you may want to rent Rush Hour instead.

The transfer is another great one from Columbia. Aside from some very minor pixelation in the opening scene, the video is flawless. Colors are sharp with deep blacks. It's clean throughout. The audio is strong also. During the action scenes, there are some good surround effects, especially at the end. The front channels don't offer huge bass, but it gets the job done. Dialogue is easily heard. Again, other dvds' technical fields should be as good as this one. Great job again from Columbia.
