Movie
The story isn't as dark as it should be. Once the climax finally arrives, you'll feel deflated and a little bit cheated. It's antoher case where the story builds and builds, then your anticipation gets popped like a balloon, and all of your air flies out fast.
Disc
Fox has given this movie, for some reason, the special edition treatment. There are plenty of features to choose from, though they don't match the quality of a Universal Collector's Edition. Still, it's nice to see Fox make that $34.99 retail price worthwhile. For being an anamorphic transfer, this picture isn't as good as it should be. And the fact that it's a new film makes it that more disappointing. There are some spots here and there and the picture looks soft at times. Also, there's one scene where the picture "jumps up and down" for about 2 seconds. Fox hasn't done many 16x9 transfers, but this is still no exuse. If you're going to do one, do it right. The audio fares much better. Being a talky movie, there's no need for surrounds. You can hear the actors speak clearly, so that's all that matters.
Overall
The film is a little disappointing. It's not as good as advertised and the fact that Fox botched the transfer doesn't help either. Rent first, then decide.
