Film
The special effects and photography are the movie's strong points. And Travolta chews up the scenery. The weak links, besides the obvious script, are all the humans and the lack of action. It's 3000, yet when you take a glance at "our" race, you'll think it's 100,000 BC. Because they look like relatives of cavemen.

The movie does end with a bang, sporting lots of eye candy and fireworks. Too bad it didn't have more action. Part of the title is Battlefield, right?

It's tough to say if this movie will find an audience. When compared to SOLDIER and WING COMMANDER, this movie is great. When compared to every other sci-fi film, it's...

Features
No matter what you think of the movie, the disc really is incredible. There are a huge amount of features here, with commentary to a nice documentary. There's some hidden stuff to look for as well. It's a shame that such a bad film gets such great treatment when other great films get slighted.

Audio
The best thing about the entire disc. There's enough bass here to start your own war with the neighbors. Lots of nice rear sounds, particularly when a ship passes by. A 5.1 mix that lives up to the calling.

Video
Though the movie uses incredibly bad color, the print itself isn't harmed at all. A perfect transfer that has no mishaps whatsoever. Too bad the film sucks.

Overall
I'm not nearly as critical of this film as the rest of the world, but you should still keep your distance. The dvd does have great extras and a nice 5.1 soundtrack, but it's still "Battlefield Earth". You've been warned.
