Movie
AP2 borrows or pokes fun at STAR WARS, JAMES BOND, and even BACK TO THE FUTURE. The results are very good. Hey, this movie even
has special effects. I only wished it wasn't as big as the
original. The simpleness is what made the original such an
instant classic. Oh well, these drawbacks aside, you'll still
have a shagadelic time. Smashing, baby!
Disc
New Line Cinema + Platinum Series = Fantastic disc. This dvd is just awesome. The first thing you'll notice are the very funny menus. Austin dances while you look at each selection and then will ask you to "make a selection, baby." The disc is loaded with features. There are 21 deleted scenes, 14 more than what the original had. And there's a hidden Dr. Evil feature page. A couple of things are different on this disc than the original. For one, the widescreen aspect is 2.35:1. In the first one, the aspect was 2:1, which I prefer. Also, the first offered both formats while this one is only in widescreen. I hate Full Screen/Pan & Scan, so it doesn't bother me, but it may bother those who don't like widescreen. The audio is booming, especially with a great soundtrack. The video is bright and very colorful. In all, this is one of New Line's best dvds.
Overall
This sequel is not near as good or funny as the first movie. Still, it has just enough good jokes to make it worth watching more than once. Add that to a great list of features and some hilarious menus and you've got a super-duper-shagadelic disc.
