Jack controls this movie, spouting off joke after joke. Helen Hunt provides the drama and gives an outstanding performance, which landed her an Oscar for Best Actress. Nicholson also gets an Oscar for Best Actor. Still, the movie could have been a little better, as the story seemed too bland and too original. The lead performances, however, make it easy to recommend.
Features
The only feature on the dvd is a commentary that features the director and principal cast. Not as talky as you'd like, as there are alot of pauses. No trailer is included either.
Audio
Comedy/dramas don't need rip roarin' sound. This is a subtle, soothing track. No complaints here.
Video
Once again, Columbia makes your eyes feel good by offering another fantastic video transfer (16x9). No pixels, no grain, no shimmering, no nothing. Simply superb.
Overall
There probably could have been a few more movies that may have deserved a Best Picture nomination instead of this one. It's a bit sappy, but it's got more bits of comedy. Recommended.
