Dim-witted, yet heroic Ash returns for the final chapter in the popular Evil Dead series. Only this time, he has a chainsaw for a hand and is now trapped in Medievel Times instead of that isolated cabin. The "Book of the Dead" has transferred him to the Dark Ages. Here, he romances with Embeth Davidtz, takes on an army of skeletons, and tries to figure out how to get back home. Major slap-stick horror/humor outing for director Raimi. This third part steps away from the first 2 films, but it's still alot of fun. Cool special effects, if somewhat cheesy.

Features
The best part about this set is the fact that we get to see the version Sam Raimi wanted, which includes that terrific ending. The other great feature is the commentary between he and Bruce Campbell. Once again, they cut eat other to pieces, but it's all in good fun. Is there a better pair to offer up such a great commentary? Kevin Smith and crew is the only other competition. Oddly, the featurette that was on the non dir. cut isn't included here.

Audio
The same 2.0 track that was on the regular Anchor Bay releases. Which means it's more than adequate. A low budget horror/comedy doesn't need much of a boost.

Video
Also the same transfer from the previous Anchor Bay releases. Which also means it's more than adequate. The colors are alive, not much shimmering, and the print is mostly dust-free. Couldn't ask for anything better.

Overall
If you have the Limited Edition, consider yourself lucky. If you don't, get this director's cut over the other stand-alone version from the Bay.
