After I took the learning
styles test, I came to the conclusion that I have two learning styles.
I
am both a kinesthetic and visual learner. A visual or spatial learner
has
traits that pertain to being able to draw/create things, daydreaming,
and
fix things. Spatial learners learn best by visualizing, and learning by
methods
pertaining to color and pictures. A kinesthetic learner has traits that
pertain
to being very physical and likes to move around. They are usually very
athletic.
Kinesthetic learners learn best by moving touching, and interacting
with
the space through bodily actions. A good example of me being a visual
learner
for example, is my Spanish class. In Spanish class, the Spanish book
shows
you the word in Spanish next to the picture of the object. Whenever I
have
to recall a word the picture that correlates to the word first pops up
in
my mind and form there I can recall the word. An example of me being a
kinesthetic
learner is in math class. In math class, when ever I have to learn a
new
equation I have to use it to see how it works or I don't understand the
material.
Being a visual learner relates to my personality because I love to draw
and
sometimes I am told I daydream too much. Being a kinesthetic learner is
portrayed
in my personality because I love to partake in sports and am very
competitive
in nature.
One type of subject that does not
fit
into my learning styles is American History. This is because you learn
it
out of a textbook. This textbook has little pictures and so I cannot
compare
the data to a picture. Since we read the information I also have little
chance
to use my kinesthetic skills. If, for example, the teacher was teaching
us
about the Oregon Trail, the teacher could do many things to make the
lesson
more interesting for me. One practical lesson plan for example, would
be
to have us make a 3d model of the Oregon Trail. That way it uses both
my
learning types, kinesthetic because I actually make the model, and
visual
because I have something to compare the actual trail I read in the book
to.
Finally, my favorite lesson of all
time
was in my science class. We were studying muscle, tendons, ligaments,
veins
and capillaries. So we got to dissect a chicken wing and poke at the
ligaments
and veins to see how they worked. I thought it was really fun. Part of
the
reason I probably thought it was really fun was because it fit into my
learning
styles. I got to see what actual veins looked like and I got to pick,
poke,
and pull at the chicken tissue to satisfy my kinesthetic side
.

This picture represents my learning styles because
the alien and Kung Fu Kiddy does martial arts, which is an active
activity
like a kinosthetic learner.
