The Children of Seligmann and Hinka Goldschmidt 
Seligmann GoldschmidtSeligmann Goldschmidt (son of Falcke and Eva Ruben) was born in 1786, in Oberlistingen. He married Hincka Schoenschen Alexander, born in Wolfhagen, Germany. Seligmann died 1876, Oberlistingen, Hesse-Cassel. He fought in the forces under General Bluecher against Napoleon at Waterloo,Hinka Goldschmidt and was cited for bravery on a memorial plaque in one of the town buildings.  He was given a silver snuff box (now in the possession of Art Mansbach of Cleveland, Ohio). Seligmann was a dealer in spices. Many of their descendants emigrated to Philadelphia and changed their name to Goldsmith.

I. Rosa (Roschen) Goldschmidt, married Bernhardt Metz. This family lived in New York.  We lost this branch.

II. Sarah Goldschmidt, born 1820, Oberlistingen, Hesse - Kassel. Married November 1843 to Abraham Mansbach from Maden. They are buried at Mt. Sinai. cemetery in Philadelphia.

III. Jacob Goldsmith, born 1822, Oberlistingen. Married Fannie Schwattinger from Bavaria. Died in Philadelphia. Shortly after his arrival in Philadelphia, he engaged in the retail clothing business associating himself with his brothers, Levi and Abraham Goldsmith, in the wholesale manufacture of clothing.  See Obituary

 IV. Levi Goldsmith, born 10 November 1824, Oberlistingen. Married Henrietta Lowenberg, from Willebadessen, Bavaria. Levi died 29 December 1886 in Philadelphia. Buried at Mt. Sinai.

V. Eva Goldschmidt, born 1827 in Oberlistingen. Married Gerson Katzenstein from Jesberg, Hesse Nassau (son of Rabbi Abraham Scholum ha Kohen). Eva died 6 September 1893 in Philadelphia. They are both buried at Adath Jeshuran Cemetery. See Katzenstein Family.

VI. Bette Goldschmidt, born 1830, Oberlistingen. Married  her cousin Jacob Goldschmidt (son of Lehmann Goldschmidt and Ranchen Frank).  Bette died 16 Mar 1909 in Philadelphia. 

VII. Abraham Goldsmith, born 13 March 1832, Oberlistingen. Married 27 January 1858, first to Cecelia Adler from Wurzburg, Bavaria, (daughter of Samuel Adler and Sarah Kargau). She died 8 November 1874 in Philadelphia. He then married Francis Spanier.  Abraham died 20 January 1902 in Philadelphia. They are also buried at Mt. Sinai.

VIII. Meyer Goldsmith, born 1838, Hesse-Cassel, m. Helena (Lena) Hohenfels.
