Obituary of Albert Sigmund:

Albert Sigmund,
a prominent citizen of Baltimore, died yesterday morning a 2:20
o’clock at his home, 2231 Madison avenue, after a lingering illness.
Mr. Sigmund was born
in Bavaria and came to this country at an early age.
For the lasts 50 years he had been prominently identified with
the mercantile pursuits here. He
was the founder and senior member of the firm Albert Sigmund & Son,
hatters and furriers, 103 East Baltimore street.
During his career he
had held positions of honor and trust under the city and state
governments. For 16 years
he was an energetic member of the Maryland State Penitentiary Board.
He was also for many years one of the board of directors of
Bayview. For the past two years Mr. Sigmund had been and invalid and
had not been directly engaged in business.
He had been confined to his home for the past four months.
If he had lived until April 26 he would have celebrated the 50th
anniversary of his marriage.
The deceased leaves
a widow and six children—Simon, Joseph, Leopold; Mrs. S.J. Katzenstein,
of Washington, Pa.; Mrs Harry Goldman and Miss May Sigmund.
The funeral will
take place Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock from his late residence, 2231
Madison avenue.

of S.J. Katzenstein
Impressive Services,
the Masonic Order Taking Part
The funeral of
S.J. Katzenstein, who died on Saturday, took place Monday afternoon, the
services being conducted at the late home of the deceased,
North Main street, at 2 o’clock by Rabbi Levy, of Wheeling.
These services were of the regular Jewish order, and very
impressive. Rabbi Levy’s address being of a nature to hold the
attention of all present, and his eulogy of the deceased being touching.
There was a large attendance of Washington friends of the family,
while relatives and friends came from near and distant cities.
After the services at the house the Masons took charge of the
remains and marched in a body to the cemetery.
The carriers all Masons, were Dr. Geo W. Kelly, J.K. McMillan, T.
Jeff Duncan, Esq., J.W. McDowell, Esq., J.W Rothwell, J.E. Miller, Dr.
S.H. Wolf and J.W. Wallace. At
the cemetery the services were conducted by that fraternity.
