Not just a garden variety home computer, mind you. She is totally convinced that the average American doesn't know how to bring computing technology into his/her living quarter, so she is taking up the challenge of designing a home computer for the masses. As if she doesn't have enough to do already. It will be a machine that is more like an intelligent home appliance that has a flat panel display which can be hang on the kitchen wall or may be on the side of the refrigerator, controls the house lights, has a database for storing cooking recipes and other information, functions as a personal financial manager, reminds you to pay the utility bills and can be connected to the Internet. As for the 'Net, Stewart plans to use her companion web site to her magazine and TV shows for target marketing, e-mail promotions, and keeping the public informed of what's happening with the Martha Stewart world. In her weekly syndicated column -- Ask
Martha -- at the Detroit News web site, her e-mail address has been
changed to bear the marthastewart.com domain name. For a possible web site
launch perhaps? |
