Prince Charles Launched Youth WWW In Canada
Ray Van Eng (05/01/96)
During his April '96 visit to Canada, Prince Charles has launched an Internet
world wide web site dedicated to encourage entrepreneurship in Canadian
youth. The web site 'Intervision' is a free on-line service established
by the Canadian Youth Business Foundation and can be reached at http://www.cybf.ca.
In recent years, the Canadian youth unemployment figure has reached an alarming rate of over 15%. With the launch of this initiative, officials hope to help young people to start independent businesses on their own. From the Intervision web site, youth entrepreneurs can get information about setting up a business, exchange ideas, list their businesses on a database and get expert advise from business mentors.
Prince Charles, for his part, has founded a similar venture ten years ago in England known as the Prince's Youth Business Trust. The Canadian Youth Business Foundation is looking forward to supporting 5000 new business in 60 communities across Canada in five years time. Many corporations have lend support to the program including CIBC, Royal Bank, IBM, Price Waterhouse, Bank of Montreal etc.
