Dr. Ramin AmirNovin was born in Tehran, Iran and migrated to West Covina at the age oftwelve. He spent his childhood in San Diego, where he later graduated (Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa) from UCSD (Revelle College) as a Chemistry and Biochemistry double major. He continued his education in New York City, where he obtained a MD (AOA Honor Society and Lucein Rubinstein Award) from New York University Medical School . He completed his General Surgery and Neurological Surgery training at the prestigious Harvard hospital of Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). He also completed a two-year specialty training in Functional/Stereotactic Neurosurgery at MGH. He started his independent practice at Harvard's Massachusetts General Hospital where he practiced complex general neurosurgery for 6 months before moving back to the West coast to be near his family.
He joined the LDR Neurosurgery group in June 2007.
Dr. AmirNovin is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), and the Association for Ethics in Spine Surgery (AESS). He has written several book chapters, numerous articles for peer-reviewed publications, and performed cutting-edge research on brain tumors, movement disorders, pain syndromes, and epilepsy.
