For you [I wait], Yahweh;

        I lift up my soul to my God.

In you I trusted, let me not be ashamed;

        Let not my enemies exult over me.

Indeed, all who wait for you will not be ashamed;

        Let those be ashamed who are faithless without cause.

Make me know your ways, Yahweh;

        teach me your paths.

Make me walk in your fidelity, teach me;

        for you are my saving God.

        It is for you I wait for all day long!

Remember your mercies and your steadfast love,

        for they are from ancient times.

Do not remember the sins of my youth;

        According to your steadfast love--you!--remember me,

        for the sake of your goodness, Yahweh.

Good and upright is Yahweh;

        he teaches even sinners on the road.

He makes the afflicted walk in justice;

        he teaches the afflicted his way.

All the paths of Yahweh are steadfast love and fidelity,

        for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.

For the sake of your name, Yahweh,

        forgive my iniquity for it is great.

Who are those who fear Yahweh,

        Yahweh will show them the way they should choose.

Their soul shall lodge in prosperity;

         their children will inherit the land.

The advice of Yahweh is for those who fear him;

        in order to make them know his covenant.

My eyes are ever toward Yahweh;

        for he brings my feet out of the net.

Turn to me, have mercy on me,

        for I am alone and afflicted.

Expand the straits of my heart;

        and bring me out of my troubles.

Pay attention to my affliction and my trouble,

        forgive my sins.

See how numerous my enemies are;

        They hate me with hatred and violence.

Keep me and save me;

        Let me not be ashamed because I seek refuge in you.

Let perfection and uprightness keep me,

        for I wait for you, Yahweh.

Redeem Israel, God, from all its troubles!
