When Yahweh restored the fortunes of Zion,

    We were like people who dream.

Then our mouth was filled with laughter,

    And our tongue with a ringing cheer.

Then they said among the nations:

    "Yahweh has accomplished a great thing in his dealings with them."

    Yahweh did accomplish a great thing in his dealings with us,

    We were glad.

Yahweh, restore our fortunes like riverbeds in the Negeb.

    Those who plant seeds with tears bring in the harvest with a ringing cheer.

People who carry the leather pouch full of seed weep as they go along;

    But those who carry in the sheaves proceed with a ringing cheer.
