THE ILLUSTRATIONS

The purpose of the following illustrations is to provide a concise, clear, objective idea of a subject of great magnitude and transcendency – the study of Incorporeal Life.

Nearly all of these illustrations are the result of observations by enlightened visual mediums of the Redemptor Centre. They show the action of disincarnated spirits and their influence over incarnated individuals who are unaware of the spiritual meaning of life.

Through thought and reflection, the reader will find the reasons for certain facts hitherto beyond his understanding.

Illustration 1

The Sugar Loaf, located at the entrance of Guanabara Bay. Life or Force is present in all bodies. Thus, every atom contains Force and Matter. Force radiates, and this radiation is called aura. In granite, the atoms are combined in very compact form and the sum of their radiations, transposing the outline, appears as shown above. The aura encircles the entire granite block but is only clearly visible along the contour line.

Illustration 2

In this illustration, isolated rocks are seen. This shows that the aura does not change when rocks are broken up. Each portion of the original body retains the same aura, which derives from atomic radiation and from the intranuclear force of cohesion.

Illustration 3

This illustration confirms that the aura is always present wherever there is organic matter in its rough or wrought state. Above is the bronze bust of a Brazilian statesman, the Baron of Rio Branco, placed atop a granite pedestal. Both pieces were obviously molded, but the aura is present like in any another body.

Illustration 4

A manganese block, on display in the National Museum of Rio de Janeiro. Its aura shows the uniformity of simple bodies. The uniformity of aura equals that of its own solidity.

Illustration 5

The Bandego meteorite, on display in the National Museum of Rio de Janeiro. Its aura is denser and more uniform than that of granite; it has greater density because it has more atoms per unit of volume; it is more uniform because it is composed almost exclusively of one element (iron) in a ratio of 95.1%. This block was attracted by Earth from sidereal space. It was obviously much larger but when it crossed Earth’s atmosphere, its size was reduced by air attrition. The heat caused bay attrition on its surface was so high that a part of its periphery liquefied, then gasified and finally mixed with air.

Illustration 6

A pot of caladiums. In the vegetable kingdom, the toms are combined in less compact form than that of minerals, because the auras of vegetables are more diaphanous. The manifestations of Force, as a synonym of Life, however, are more apparent and influence the composition of vegetable auras.

Illustration 7

In a group of flowers and leaves, the subtle differences between their auras can be seen. As the vitality of these plants fades with the passage of time, their auras in turn also fade. The aura derived from life or vital Force is no longer present when they wither, leaving only the aura derived from atomic force.

Illustration 8

When flowers are not picked and are left on their stalks, they retain their aura for a longer period of time, full of living vibration, because all the vitality of plants is reflected in their auras.

Illustration 9

Like that of mountains, the aura of trees is much more perceptible on the outline, although it encompasses their entire surface evenly.

Illustration 10

This illustration shows that, after a tree is felled, its aura gradually moves away from the primitive aura, as the tree dries and dies. This is one of the manifestations of Force. Hence, by losing this Force, the dying tree also loses its radiation. The aura that remains in the dried plant is the aura that emanates from the atoms.

Illustration 11

Various bees are seen on this cluster of acacias. The aura of these insects is much denser than the vegetables aura because in it three auras are interpolated: first, the aura emanating from organized matter; second, the aura derived from the manifestation of Force as a synonym of life; and finally, the aura of the evolving particle of the Whole, which in such insects is already considerably pronounced.

Illustration 12

Among those domestic animals closer to man, the donkey has the aura most similar to the more refined aura of humans. The particle of the Whole already displays rudimentary vibrations of intelligence and reasoning.

Illustration 13

The dog is another domestic animal that reveals qualities of intelligence, reasoning, faithfulness, loyalty, friendship, courage and gratitude.
The degree of development of the particle of intelligence is demonstrated by the refinement of the breeds of dogs which, like horses’ breeds, reach a high level in the evolution of their species.

Illustration 14

The color of the spirit’s aura changes according to its thoughts and degree of evolution. The spirit has no human form but may take whatever form it desires because it is Force, Intelligence, Power. Also, it has no rigid form because rigid form results from organic matter associated with Force – and the spirit is only Force. Above is one of the many forms taken by the Superior Astral, observed in one of the seances at the Redemptor Center.

Illustration 15

The Astral forms of the Superior Spirits may take one or more colors, according to the message they want to convey. The power of the spirit enables it to keep the forms themselves, as well as their colors, distinct and perfect, as long as the message remains unchanged.

Illustration 16

In the Astral images of the Superior Astral, the perfection of geometric lines is seen. As spirits evolve in the Superior Astral, a change in their specific color and aroma is noticeable as a result of their evolution. In these cases, their will does not interfere in the manifestation of color and aroma, but only in the size and shape of the geometric figure.

Illustration 17

Here three more Astral forms of Superior Spirits are seen. Although two of them are similar in shape, they differ fundamentally in color, thereby eliminating the possibility of confusion. Among the billions of individuals on Earth, there are not two exactly alike.
The same happens in the Superior Astral, where no two spirits are exactly equal. They may be equal in the shape and size of the configuration they present but not in the shade of color and aroma. These two characteristics, which result from evolution, are peculiar to each spirit.

Illustration 18

There are countless combinations in the composition of geometric forms of the Superior Spirits. The above closely resembles an ellipse; however, sectioning only a small part of it gives it a special, individual feature.

Illustration 19

Above is one of the Superior Astral forms seen frequently by visual mediums during the public seances at the Redemptor Center.

Illustration 20

The spirits of the Superior Astral may also join together to form a stronger, more harmonious current. In theses cases their images are ampler and more complex, without losing the harmonious lines of the whole. The above represents one of these combinations, encircled by a series of other spirits that take part in a certain action.

Illustration 21

The spirit is always Force, Intelligence, Power. These attributes may be used for good as well as for evil. In the Superior Astral they are used exclusively for good purposes. In the Inferior Astral, on the contrary, they are consciously or unconsciously used for evil purposes. The Inferior Astral is crowded with spirits of various degrees of evolution, and therefore, of diverse spiritual powers. However, they are all strong enough to do harm. When a spirit of the Inferior Astral is aware of its condition as a disincarnated spirit and is able to make use of its powers, it conceives, as it sees fit, the most hideous figures to frighten the incarnate who are endowed with visual mediumity. They do this either for their own amusement or for sheer perversity.
The above picture shows a ghastly form of the animistic body of a spirit of the Inferior Astral.

Illustration 22

In lack of better concerns, the spirits of the Inferior Astral devise ways and means to bring about misfortune to the incarnate. In the above picture two hunters are seen.
The one in the background does not see the one in front, who is concealed by the foliage. The position of the latter enables a spirit of the Inferior Astral to place itself at the level of the hunter’s head, posing as a wild animal. In this way his companion may be deceived and shoot if he happens to be a visual medium. Many fatal cases like this have occurred.

Illustration 23

The spirits of the Inferior Astral do not always appear in full corporeal form. Many times they prefer to appear in the form of hideous heads. All these disfigurements are done on purpose because what such spirits want is to terrify the fearful, unenlightened individuals who are endowed with visual mediumity.

Illustration 24

By using the fluids existing on Earth, the spirits of the Inferior Astral are able to form whatever fluidic images they wish. In the above picture there are three such images: a monkey climbing a tree, a cat, and a ball with a tail in its lower part.

Illustration 25

This picture represents spirits of the Inferior Astral harassing a visual medium. They transfigure themselves into such scary forms because they know the terrible impression they make on these individuals.
When a visual medium is unaware of incorporeal life, and of the means within his reach to escape such actuations, he is subject to premature disincarnation or insanity.

Illustration 26

A sick child and its mother, who is getting ready to go out on a love affair. Frivolity has a strong attraction to the Inferior Astral, and it is here represented by the dark faces surrounding the woman. The greatest victim of these inferior forces is the defenseless child, who is subject to the mother’s harmful attendance. This may bring unfortunate consequences such as childhood disincarnations, caused by lack of maternal instinct, improper upbringing, absence of a sound moral behavior and ignorance about spiritual life.

Illustration 27

Smoking and alcohol may lead a Young woman to a wasteful incarnation. The above portrays the erratic life of a mother who is not capable of leading her children along the path of honor and duty. Her bad attendance makes evident the decline and approaching fall of a capricious human being.

Illustration 28

Very frequently animals are endowed with visual mediumity. To frighten them, the spirits of the Inferior Astral produce all sorts of bodies, including those of enraged animals. The above shows a prancing horse whose owner believes it to be acting up. Actually the fright experienced by the horse was caused by its visual mediumity which gave the horse the idea that the (fluidic) snake was going to attack it. The rider could not see the snake because he is not a visual medium and came short of being violently thrown off the horse’s back.
Such incidents can be avoided when riders are aware of incorporeal life and prepare themselves by a mental cleansing before traveling. In this way they avoid being disturbed by mischievous spirits when traveling

Illustration 29

The spirits of the Inferior Astral roam about and do all possible harm in homes that are not spiritually clean. They impregnate food with evil, infectious fluids, which cause the most varied diseases, especially if those who eat such food are already physically weakened. Often certain diseases emerge, the cause of which physicians are unable to determine. Until knowledge of Christian Rationalist teachings is sufficiently divulged, the reasons for many of these facts will not be well understood.

Illustration 30

The forces of the Inferior Astral, carrying harmful fluids, purposely drop part of these fluids on foods. Thus they cause a variety of diseases in those who eat them, the victims being unaware of the causes. The homes where good thoughts do not prevail are subject to the unrestrained action of the Inferior Astral.

Illustration 31

Spirits of the Inferior Astral showing the voodooist the figures they can make up, for his use. A clairvoyant medium like most, the voodoist enjoys watching the skills of his assistants. So that he can use them later in his “performances”. Above, right, one of these spirits fakes the figure of a “guide” which is much used by obsessors to deceive the unwary and the ignorant. Voodooism leads to the most wicked, criminal acts with the help or spirits of the Inferior Astral.

Illustration 32

As a rule, spiritual attendance is very bad in nightclubs, bars, casinos, etc. Wherever vice prevails, the spirits of the Inferior Astral predominate. In these places where smoking, drinking and gambling prevail, conservation also fosters sensualism. All this contributes to attract inferior spirits and their affinity with those who often attend these places is complete. The sensual thoughts of the incarnate are therefore influenced by the affinitive intuitions of the disincarnate. Such places are suitable for the attraction and attendance of some of the spirits commonly found in such environments which may eventually bring about material loss and moral decadence in professional and social life.

Illustration 33

Many tragedies result from bad astral attendance. The above picture shows one such example. The animal trainer entered the cage in a resentful mood after a quarrel with a co-worker. He could not conceal his hatred, and thus became a victim of his own feelings. The spirits of the Inferior Astral are everywhere, awaiting a chance to associate with those whose feelings are in tune with their own. They form phalanxes and do their utmost to promote the disincarnation of people with whom they have affinitive thoughts, so that the latter will join their ranks after disincarnation.

Illustration 34

The sad picture of a drunkard holding on to a pole, encircled by the bad attendance brought with him from the saloon he just left.
He lacks courage to face the struggle for life. He is paving the way to tragic days with the help of his wicked attendance. Thus are those who live without knowing why they live. They could reason but they do not want to trouble themselves with reasoning. They prefer to remain in the apathy of their environment. Their already feeble will becomes weaker and weaker. It is in this way that millions of individuals lose successive incarnations and only the upheavals, that from time convulse the world, will arouse some from their lethargy.

Illustration 35

Two contenders, engaged on heated argument, assail each other. The spirits of the Inferior Astral eagerly rush to the scene, anxious for a dire outcome, and encircle both in vibrations of hatred and hostility.

Illustration 36

It is not always possible, at social gatherings, to avoid the presence of obstinate “lady-killers” who take advantage of such opportunities to address flattering but ill-meaning gallantries at the ladies. Such individuals are always surrounded by wicked astral attendance, as shown in the above picture. The black circles represent obsessor spirits that stimulate such wicked feelings. The lady, who is endowed with excellent moral character, is encircled by a clean ambience, hence the seductive thrusts of the false “gentleman” did not produce the desired results.

Illustration 37

Clairvoyant mediums, if sufficiently enlightened, can watch the action of the Inferior Astral surrounding an individual when he is absorbed in wicked thoughts. The black circles shown are simply the malignant spirits in their normal condition. The black color reveals lowly, inferior, wicked feelings. The change performed by the obsessor spirit begins with a black circle, and from that it turns into ugly faces, monsters or some other shape.

Illustration 38

The above shows one of the ways leading to obsession. A reveler often has female shapes in his mind. If they are unenlightened clairvoyant mediums, they may be encircled by forms like those shown above. They are spirits of the Inferior Astral that appear in this form in order to jeer the instinctive, uncontrolled inclinations of such individuals. Under these circumstances these revelers shelter lascivious thoughts which are much to their liking, to the point of gradually and heedlessly becoming prey to such influences.

Illustration 39

The spirits of the Inferior Astral employ a variety of tricks to overwhelm individuals. When they succeed in drawing their attention to a subject that interests them, half of the battle is already won. The picture above shows a hunting aficionado who is a visual, auditory medium. The spirits of the Inferior Astral, aware of his particular hobby, outlined the scene. One of them took the form of a wild pig and another two assumed the shape of two dogs running after the game. Others, from a distance, watch the outcome. The maniac hunter is wholly overwhelmed, and his emotion produces a vibration that favors the reception of fluidic discharges sent by spirits that are taking part in the “job”. With such discharges they try to establish ways to approach and consequently overwhelm the hunter.

Illustration 40

The same medium of the previous picture at a more advanced stage of overwhelming obsession. He gestures and talks as though he were in the presence of incarnate individuals. He is so disturbed that he may even fire his weapon. He arrived at this deplorable state due to a lack of enlightenment, a disorderly life, and ignorance of the truth about clairvoyant mediumity, contributes to the preservation of ignorance of many individuals who, therefore, become easily obsessed. Life should be known as it really is so that people may defend themselves from the dangers of ignorance.

Illustration 41

The sad condition into which this obsessed man was driven is shown above. He is encircled by spirits of the Inferior Astral transfigured into the most varied forms and shapes. Vice and vile emotions are always magnets for the attraction of obsessor spirits. To ward them off there is only one way and that is to change those emotions and overcome vice. In other words, the individual will have to depend on himself, and on the help o others who are enlightened, never solely on others’ efforts.

Illustration 42

Another view of the atmosphere surrounding an obsessed man (insane) who is endowed with clairvoyant mediumity. Not all the insane are clairvoyant mediums. However, they have a more or less developed, undisciplined (though untrained) power of incorporation and as a result suffer what is shown above. Obsessed individuals at times have fits of fury in their efforts to free themselves from these terrible influences of the Inferior Astral.

Illustration 43

This illustration shows the struggle of an obsessed man to free himself, during a fit of fury. The black balls represent spirits of the Inferior Astral. Four, three or even two well-meaning individuals who are familiar with rationalist methods, are enough to free an obsessed individual from the influence of the inferior spirits. Their power of irradiation to the Superior Forces is quickly felt and helps clean the environment. Those people, through the action of thought, harmonize with the Whole, and thus establish a connection with highly enlightened spirits thereby forming a current that attracts the disturbing spirits to their own worlds. Such obsessor spirits, engulfed in the darkness of their miseries, cause a lot of harm to individuals who are unaware of the phenomena of incorporeal life.

Illustration 44

Another illustration of the anguish of an obsessed man troubled by an obsessing phalanx. The hideous figures seen above emerge before his frightened eyes, as if they were corporeal, not fluidic, and thus make him believe that he needs to defend himself from their attacks. He tries to evade the threatening blows, thereby becoming still more disturbed. However, through the formation of a Christian Rationalist fluidic current around the obsessed person, all obsessor spirits are dragged away by the Superior Astral to their own worlds. There they are enlightened and do not descend to Earth again except to reincarnate in order to resume evolution, which stagnated due to improper use of their free will.

Illustration 45

As the obsessed man is indoctrinated in the rationalist principles, he gradually begins to realize what was happening to him and becomes less and less excited by incorporeal visions. He begins to change his former ways of thinking and starts his mental retraining and the strengthening of his will. He is then on the way to recovery and to a new life.

Illustration 46

Whenever the obsessed person still feels unable to free himself from evil influences, those who are in sound psychic conditions to perform astral cleansing must intervene. As soon as the fluidic current is established all such evil influences are removed by the Superior Astral and disappear. So long as complete recovery is not achieved, through enlightenment of the obsessed patient, he will be subject to new evil influences. This explains why recovery is sometimes slow.

Illustration 47

The same patient in the final stage of disobsession, and already able to react against evil influences. Now he only feels the physical after-effects of the state of disturbance undergone by him. Two sound-minded individuals start him on irradiation training. The persevering practice of irradiation, in accordance with Christian Rationalist discipline, is a safeguard for him. By doing so he will avoid becoming obsessed again, and he will be a useful member of the community.

Illustration 48

Fully recovered the individual endeavors to improve his knowledge by reading, studying and meditating, in order to make the best possible use of life. Living intelligently is harder than it appears to be. But one can learn to live intelligently, as long as he tries to enlighten himself and adhere to the rules of order, discipline and evolution. The code of Christian Rationalist principles is within everyone’s reach. It will enable everyone to learn, reason and outline living norms in accordance with these principles, and consequently stay away from miseries, disturbance and vice.

Illustration 49

An opera Singer successfully performing her role. In addition to having a happy disposition, she is rendering an act of high moral content before an audience which is also positively motivated. Therefore, she has in her favor a psychically clean ambience, although she did not specifically plan it. The many enraptured spectators build up a spiritual current which servers as support for spirits of the Superior Astral. These spirits encircle the singer, thus contributing to her successful performance.

Illustration 50

Physicians who are aware of incorporeal life know how important it is to prepare a patient’s environment at the moment medicine is administered. A humane, altruistic, unselfish physician, who views his profession as a means of helping his suffering fellow men, stands under the influence of the Superior Astral. The vibrations of the Superior Astral and those of the physician himself, while practicing his profession, convey to the patient a feeling of relief, well-being, and confidence which play an important part in recovery. A doctor’s performance becomes complete when he knows how to associate good psychic influence with professional ability.

Illustration 51

A mother, aware of her role in raising her child and in making him an independent person and a useful member of the community, with her positive thoughts builds a clear, sound spiritual environment. This environment promotes good spiritual attendance and consequently one of joy and good health.

Illustration 52

A happy farmer looking at the product of his labor which will eventually benefit many others. Work uplifts and dignifies the spirit, and creates a feeling of well-being arising from a superior realization of its meaning. Man must mold his character following spiritualistic norms in order to enrich his moral assets.

Illustration 53

Space is always filled with two astral influences: good and evil. They are mutually exclusive and no one can isolate himself simultaneously from both. The spirit does not sleep, it vibrates ceaselessly. Hence, it is always in tune with either one of the two influences. In the above picture a young woman is seen while engaged in a dangerous act. However, the wild animal is not excited or enraged because the environment is one of calm and confidence. The trainer entertains feelings of interest in the success of her performance and honesty to the public for what she is being paid to do. Her feelings are harmonious and uplifting and she is consequently under the influence of a good astral attendance.

Illustration 54

Travelling should be done in a good frame of mind to relieve the environment of evil influences.

Illustration 55

When the body is asleep, the spirit moves away with its animistic body, to which it is connected. The latter, in turn, is connected to the physical body by means of animistic cords. These cords are disconnected only when death (disincarnation) occurs.
During sleep, the spirit goes wherever its thoughts lead it, and the animistic cords are stretched, without breaking or pulling, always maintaining the connection between the fluidic body and the physical body. Not only does the spirit not sleep, but it also vibrates ceaselessly. It does not need rest because fatigue pertains to matter, not to spirit. The withdrawal of the spirit from the physical body, together with the fluidic body, is called disembodiment.

Illustration 56

When spouses allow the venom of adultery to penetrate their subconscious, they become the prey of the Inferior Astral which delights in seeing them separated, disunited, and inclined to mutual rejection. In this state of mind, as soon as they fall asleep, their spirits follow opposite paths towards the places where they find the objects of their attraction, pleasure, or satisfaction. Such objects match the worldly tendencies aroused by the inferior spirits which are shown above in the form of black balls. This couple failed to cultivate the ennobling feelings of love, respect and affection because of their lack of concern for the spiritual meaning of life and their marital duties and responsibilities.

Illustration 57

Sailing vessel, near the coast of Newfoundland, in which Robert Bruce traveled.
In order to dispel any doubts which the reader may entertain about the phenomenon of disembodiment, how it occurs, and how the person involved can be oblivious of what actually happened to him or her, we shall recount, up to Illustration 63, an event recorded in the British Admiralty where he documents related thereto are filed.

Illustration 58

The crew of this ship, run aground on ice in high seas, is driven to despair, without the slightest chance of salvation.

Illustration 59

On the deck of the stranded ship, there is a sailor asleep in a corner, whose double ethereal withdraws from its physical body and goes to another ship as shown on Illustration 57.

Illustration 60

The double-ethereal of the sailor from the stranded ship goes to the cabin of the captain of the ship of Illustration 57. His presence was then noticed by Mr. Robert Bruce who advised the captain that a stranger, who was not a member of the crew, was going into the captain’s cabin. The good attendance of the disembodied sailor is shown by the Superior Astral form, shaped like a small sun with brilliant rays, above the head of the double-ethereal. This good attendance led him to the other ship from which help was available.

Illustration 61

The double-ethereal of the sleeping sailor entered the captain’s cabin and wrote on a slate found on the captain’s desk the name of the vessel run aground on ice and its exact position.

Illustration 62

Mr. Bruce and the captain, having read what the stranger had written on the slate, and although they no longer saw anyone in the captain’s cabin, led the ship to the place indicated. Dumbfounded and still bewildered, they found the wrecked vessel over a mountain of ice, as seen in this illustration.

Illustration 63

This picture shows how everyone’s attention was focused on the sailor who underwent disembodiment during sleep in order to advise the crew of the rescuing ship of the danger to which the other vessel and its crew were exposed. All castaways, including the referred to sailor, were rescued in time and placed aboard the ship in which Mr. Bruce was traveling. He was identified by Mr. Bruce as being the person who had been in Mr. Bruce’s vessel asking for help. The sailor was astonished and claimed that he knew nothing about it although he stated having a felling of deva-vu regarding the place where he now was.
This sequence of illustrations shows beyond doubt that human beings, although sleep, are able to go to different distant places and even avoid disasters.
Nevertheless, this phonomenon is in no way miraculous, mysterious or even supernatural because everything in the Universe follows common, natural, immutable laws.

Illustration 64

The headquarters building of Christian Rationalism receiving the irradiations of the Superior Astral during the public seances held in its premises. The concentration of the Superior Forces in the building, which houses an audience of about 3,000 people, is organized according to need. It depends on the greater or lesser number of obsessor, disturbed, suffering spirits present in the building, carried by many of the incarnate who are attracted to that school of higher psychic studies in search of spiritual enlightenment.
The interior of the conic figure shown above is an extremely powerful field of attraction to which the referred to evil spirits are led for subsequent departure to their own worlds. Inside the building, close to the platform, only a few of these spirits remain. They are retained there by the Superior Forces until the indoctrinations are over so that they may express their feelings through the voice of the mediums. In this way they expose their psychic condition for study and analysis of earthly life in all its multiple aspects.

Illustration 65

This fluidic formation was seen by people endowed with the gift of clairvoyance, above an orchestra while playing one of Gounod’s musical pieces. It shows that every vibration leaves its typical imprint of form and color. In the case of an orchestra, which produces variable sounds emitted simultaneously, these vibrations blend, thereby forming the most varied, surprising aggregates.

Illustration 66

Here is a picture of an orchestra during a performance, this time playing one of Wagner’s compositions. This shows that vibratory waves vary a great deal, like the musical pieces themselves.

Illustration 67

Above is an example of a third type of musical group. One of Mendelssohn’s pieces was being played when the effect was observed.
These demonstrations can be perceived only by trained clairvoyant mediums, but mediumity per se is not an uncommon trait.

Illustration 68

At night, in the absence of solar rays, certain beneficial, healing fluids from Superior places descend upon the darkened surface of Earth. The above shows a wide-mouthed jug, containing drinking water, over which fluids are cast during the night. Mental irradiations performed close to the jug are capable of establishing connection with the Superior Forces. This is because the power of thought acts as a conductor of fluids and thus more success is achieved in healing.

Summary
