R. A. C. GYMNASTICS'
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What does R. A. C. stand for? Rhythmic Artistic Company. We offer Rhythmic gymnastics (ball, hoop, rope, ribbon, clubs) and Artistic gymnastics (vault, uneven bars, beam, floor, parallel bars, high bar, pommel horse, rings) and we are a Company. Our rhythmic program uses the club name of Rhythmic Artistic Company while our artistic programs use the club name of R. A. C. Gymnastics. (Incidently our cheer program uses the name R. A. C. Allstars) Why makes R. A. C. different? Our class sizes are very small (often 2 or 3 students per instructor) which allows the students to move up the levels very quickly. Who will be teaching my child? Steffany Walker teaches a majority of the class and oversees all. Jim Walker teaches the boys and girls team and the older boys classes. Some classes also have assistant coaches that work with Steffany and Jim to help with spotting and to give more personal attention to each gymnast. How do I sign up? Call the gym (883-5477) to schedule a free introductory class. If after trying a class, you wish to enroll, you will receive the sign up packet to bring back the next week with your membership fee and the tuition for the first month (which will be pro-rated if you start in the middle of the month.) What ages do you teach? Our students must be at least 3 years old to enter our miniRACs. Our oldest student was 65 years old. What if I can't find a time that works for me? If you can not find a suitable class time for the level your child is at, we will be happy to form a new class as long as there are three students enrolled and an instructor is available. Please talk to Steffany to see what can be arranged. We also offer private lessons at a higher price. Do you have a competitive team? We currently have competitve teams for boys, girls, rhythmic, and cheer. A gymnast must be at least 6 years old and have passed all the previous levels before we will allow them to compete. (Exception Cheer Mascots must be at least 5 years old or in Kindergarten) Does my child have to compete? Competition is a personal choice of each gymnasts and while we do offer the opportunity to compete at many different levels, we do not require any student to compete regardless of their level. At this time we do not have recreational cheer classes, so those choosing to join the R. A. C. AllStars are expected to compete with the squad. Who are those two coaches with the other kids? We currently are pleased to have the Truckee Meadows Team working out at R. A. C. Gymnastics. Olympic champion, Stoyan Deltchev and former Bulgarian National team member, Anni Damianova are coaching Level 4's (Hannah, Hayley, Heather, and Kailtlin), Level 5's (Andrea and Casey), Level 7 (Brittanie), and Level 8 (Brittany, Cristina, and Logan). We are pleased that our gym can be of assistance to such an inspiring group of young ladies.
