| Pellakal *Beagno steps forward with a knowing smile and addresses Braga* "The four boars are all male, my lord, and wheigh 300, 375, 430 and 440 pounds. They are in still in their youth and will prove worthy of your spear." *he turns to Elena* "The boars are, as my lord Pellakal has stated, in the Firien Wood, a place steeped in hunting history - King Folca was slain by a boar in those woods. It will be a matter of but a few hours to ride there* Fend Fend mounts Fyrsteda and rides to the others, graciously accepting a sip from Bragas whisky bottle he swigs and returns it to its owner. He overhears talking about the boars weight and he becomes reluctant that the spear can do the job, "Wow, they are pretty big, i think ill be safe taking my own spear.. I did not want to have to bring it for i didnt wish for Boar blood to stain its gleaming metal but i suppose today is a better chance than any to use it." Fend dismounts and hurrys into his house, rummaging through his things till he finds the spear, he walks back out and mounts the awaiting Fyrsteda among the others. The polished steel of the spear gleams as the morning sun catches its edges, he attaches a small banner which has a picture of a Rohan Rider feasting upon a boar to the spear haft and smiles as he raises it. The flimsy cloth flaps furiously in the wind and he awaits Pellakals orders to depart, he turns to Braga, "How long do you expect this to last my friend, not that time is of an important matter but i want to set my horse up on a good pace without tiring it out too much." Elena Fyrsceald *Elena declines the whiskey and takes out the Dr. Pepper.* You could say Im pretty good with a bow, *she says as she puts the Dr. Pepper back in her quiver, takes an arrow out of it, and fiddles with it mindlessly.* Braganil *Turning to both Elena and Fend, while awaiting the otehr hunters to come, braga ponders the question and information at hand.* Id say, with four juvenile boars, this hunt could last all day, maybe even into the night and the following day. We should take some torches, I think you Riders carry materials to light a fire with? And for sure their blood shall bath our weapons and our hands tonight, my friends. For the glory of Rohan and Gondor! Nuraeariel Nura woke early in the morning in anticipation of the hunt to come. She had spent hours the other night polishing her fancy -and no doubt expensive- captains armour, like she always did the night before any big event. It was either look like the accomplished shieldmaiden she was, or not go at all. Bma forbid that she should have dusty armour! She dressed herself quickly in her blood-red colored dress -which she had picked out for the occasion- overwhich she layered on armour; mail, leather, the works. She armed herself with a sword and an ash spear. Then she went out to where Fyrehtan stood ready for her. Nura saddled him up and led him over to the other hunters. She was obviously the best dressed there, though she had to admit Bragas kilt was very er...impressive? "Good morning, hunters!" she says cheerfully. "I hope you all got a good nights rest!" Bilfrobag *comes riding up on his horse,fill_in_the_blank in a hurry*...hey I hope Im not late! * In the lines of armor Bil is wearing merely a chain mail shirt, a light helm, and thin steel gauntlents.* I believe I will try a spear...I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to Boar Hunts, this is my first ever. Can anyone give some tips?? Arteris Arteris meets up with the other hunters carrying his small hunters horn. He wishes that the Rohirrim would have let him take his own weapons for this hunt, for his bow Pobrea would have suited him better. But nonetheless he took up one of the bows and a quiver, being a better shot with an arrow than at handling a spear. He wears his usual garb of the rangers, a black cloak conceals his silver chainmail breastplate and lobster mail girth, also his silver bracers laced with isildi. He has been boar hunting before and came out alive, so this one should prove to be no different. The one thing he does know is that he will definitely fight for a spot at the spit when they arrive back. Braganil Goslan *Braga cannot help but look at his daughter-in-soap Nura with a "Im still prettier in my kilt!" look, before hugging her tightly, then turning to Bill and hois fellow Gondoran Arteris* Good morning, both of you! Bill, your filly-in-the-blank is up to riding in a hunt? this is not a spirt for the weak-hearted horse, ya know! Arteris - after your recent exploits in our Merethrond, watch out it wont be YOU over that spit! Nuraeariel *Nura grins at Fra.* Ill bring you back a tusk if Im lucky enough, I promise! Even if it means I have to wrestle one off kilt-man over there. *She gives her friend a quick hug before climbing up onto Fyrehtans back.* Fend *A breeze blows, everyone covers their eyes as a breeze flaps up Bregs kilt, after it stops Fend yells at him,* "What is exactly with the skirt any-who... Your legs are gonna get ripped apart by the thorns of the forest." Fend sniggers at the thought of it. Braganil Goslan *A bit indignantly, Braganil looks over at Fend, chuckling* My friend, of course I am wearing my mid-calf-high black boots as well as lower leg braces (forgot to mention those in my description) And as for what I am wearing underneath my skirt? *Ups his skirt one more to diplay his beautiful undies* My wife Anora made these, ha! And fear not for my upper legs - we men of Gondor can endure the toughest pain and dont shrink from a few thorns! besides - this kilt is beautiful when riding a horse! I can but strongly recommend one to you too! *He then looks over at Nura and growls* You would wrestles your poor ole father-in-soap for a tusk? Tststs, no respect from the yoith any longer! But where are Faramirr and Helm? Im itching for boar blood! HEEEEEELMMMMM, FARAMIRRRRRRRR! Arteris "Pah, Ive only been tied to a spit once and I dont even remember how it happened. But seriously, I remember the hours I spent turning Mr. Piggy in the pub that one day, giving him drinks of my merlot to make him sweet. It was the finest meal I ever had. If I have to lose a leg for it, itd be a fair trade I say." Arteris counts up the arrows in his quiver and realizes that it may not be enough depending on how long this boar hunt is. Pellakal (A word from the GM, me: Ok, Faramir isnt here this weekend, so well go ahead and start the hunt after Helm posts. And if Helm hasnt posted by 14:00 plaza time well go ahead and shove off. Note: this does not mean they are out of the hunt, I just want to get things moving as I feel the hunters are getting impatient. Sing hey and all that...) Braganil Goslan *Looking at Arteris counting his arrows, Braganil is reminded of the importance of having tip-top equipment for the hunt. Idly he pulls out something that looks like an awefully burned slice of toast and starts filing away at the head of his spear with it. After a few minutes the spear begins to shien and twinkle in the sun* Gondor has the Palantiri, Gondor has the White Tree, and now Gondor has TOAST! Beware! *He looks over to arteris and chuckles* Pellakal *Another "ahem" from the GM: Well, its time to be off. We must now mourn the departure of Helm, who got into a quarrel with a dwarf and ended up with his legs being chopped off at the knee. But, in the interest of time, Im sticking with 7 hunters. Soooo.... FORTH HUNTEROONIES! By the way, all GM posts will be in blue, all Beagno posts in green, and all description posts in black.* The 7 hunters and Beagno, having finished arming, ride in the early morning down the many miles of the Great West Road (oddly enough, the hunters travel in a southeasterly direction). It is not long before they sight the woods and dismount. *GM: now you may discuss how to go after the boars. Some of the veteran hunters will be aware of the best plans, and the new hunters should feel free to post any ideas of their own. And, when in doubt, ask Beagno* Braganil Goslan *Braganil asks Beagno* Say, good sir, does my kilt make me look ... fat? (j/k) *Braga takes his sharpened spear and takes its tip to draws a rough outline of the Firion Wood into the sand underneath.* We are here *He makes a big cross at the northern edge of the wood* our quarry likely is here *He makes some cricling motions with the spear all over the outline of the woods* We are facing four juvenile, strong, and dangerous boars, which will get prissy if cornered. My suggestion will be to try and take on one boar at a time, that would give us a 7:1 advantage. We also could try and lure the beasts to our position, I am quite apt at immitating their mating call, and last time we were swamped with sows! So - do we wanna stalk the beast individually, or try and do the loure thing? *Braganil straightens his kilt an dlooks at his fellow hunters* Elena Fyrsceald I say we try to stalk each one, *Elena says after a moments thought.* If not, well have to deal with all of the boars at once, not to mention all those sows that will hear your mating call. Bilfrobag One of us could lure them to a certain location, and the rest of us could be up in trees. When he/she lures the boar in we throw spears, or shoot our arrows. Could that be a possibility? Fend Fend nods at Bragas suggestion and shifts uncomfortably on his horse, "We shall take forever if we hunt them down 1 by 1, i propose we have 2 trackers, with each 1 of the trackers tracking a different boar, and the other 5 shall wait until 1 of the trackers lets off a signal or maybe sends us a message somehow? Then the 5 shall shall head in the direction of the tracker who has found a boar, we kill it and then we let the tracker find the 3rd boar, we wait for the 2nd tracker to let out a signal, then go to there etc etc till each tracker has found 2 boars. That way we are constantly knowing where at least 1 boar is, hopefully. Do i make sense?" Fend sighs in a puzzled look and twists his spear in his hand. Elena Fyrsceald I dont know, but I certainly dont understand you, *Elena replies.* Do any of you know what he means? *she gives a puzzled look* Braganil Goslan *Looking over at Elena, Braga tries again* "He means that he proposes we have two trackers, with each 1 of the trackers tracking a different boar, and the other five shall wait until one of the trackers lets off a signal or maybe sends us a message somehow? Then the five shall shall head in the direction of the tracker who has found a boar, we kill it and then we let the tracker find the third boar, we wait for the second tracker to let out a signal, then go to there etc etc till each tracker has found two boars. That way we are constantly knowing where at least 1 boar is, hopefully... Did that clear up your question? Its one workable solution, do any of the others have any other suggestions? Beagno - do these four boars come from the same litter? Its an important question as it will help us determine whether the boars are spread out throughout the forest, or if they tend to stick together. Pellakal *Beagno nods his head* Indeed, they are from the same litter, a familly of six I believe. And no, my lord Braga, the kilt does not make you appear overly rotund. |
