Rohwyn *joins the other, attired in hunting garb and a spear in hand. She eyes Bereth of Gondor, who for some reason resembles her sister, but says nothing for the moment. "Well, I must say from what I've heard now, that I would prefer going in from the north, as I think it would be better for us to have a chance of trapping the boar against the riverbank, than vice-versa!" Braganil *Considering the arguments for both directions, Braga has a moment of intuition* How about we suprise the boar and come from a direction it never even reckoned with - south? *scratches head and ponders whether he should have taken Yelinarmo, his wolf, with him* Amhran Well, Braga, I'd say it's a thought, except it doesn't matter which direction we come from; we are going to suprise is anyway. Why? The boar isn't going to reckon us coming from any direction. The boar isn't going to reckon at all. He's going to be rooting through the brush looking for truffles and oinking occasionally. But that's irrelevant. Would we be able fo come from the south, or would that require crossing the river and backtracking? And does the south road even go into the woods that we want? *doesn't have much of a map in her head* As I said, it might be a good idea. Pellakal *laughs* Aye, going south would require crossing the Snowbourn! I for one do not wish to get wet! (GM: ack, here's a map: MAP We are in the woods where the Snowbourn and the Entwash meet. The Snowbourn is the unmarked river issuing out of Edoras) Amhran (*reads map* Thank you Pell, that helps a great deal.) Ah! Perhaps we could compromise? Go north first, then swing around west once we find the boar and drive him before us, and attempt to trap him against the river! Nearby water may also make field-dressing a bit easier.. As I said, one of the main reasons we don't want to go along the riverbank is only because that is not the boar's usual habitat. It would be like fishing out of an irrigation ditch. But we could drive him in the direction of the river. Eorinae *dismounts Crysto and surveys the land* I agree with Amhran. Driving a boar would not be to hard with the five of us. Braganil Amhran makes some very good points! Although I'd like to caution that a cornered boar is even more dangerous than a prissy, already injuerd one. Alright, I have been convinced of the North argument. We could cut a path with our swords, using them like machetes. Pellakal *with a pop and a bang the GM returns, covered in tinsel and wearing a party hat*

Having made their decision, the hunters ride the rest of the short way to the woods to approach from the north. They leave their horses tethered at the woods edge, and gather around once more for yet another decision. There are 2 ways to track the boar. The first is to make use of the horns and beat the area in front and on either side, driving the boar to the banks of the river. From there, skewering the boar will be relatively easy, as they can all attack at the same time from the same side. The trap may be slipped if the hunters do not keep the boar in sight and within their ranks. The boar may try to chose a different direction to run in, and it will be up to the individual rider to herd it back on course. Also, if they miss it entirely, the noise will have scared the boar away permanently. The other way is for them to silently track the boar (not a hard task as the hunters contain 2 Pthfindians in their ranks) to its lair, surround it, and then attack it at once from all sides and kill it. A harder task as the boar may slip the scent, or may panic and attack first, choosing one rider while the others are encircling it. Feel free to look around and explore - you might find tracks, bits of boar exhaust, and other such stuff.

orina from woodland experience, it would be my suggestion that we should in fact look around. there could be something that could lead us to indeed a better solution. Braganil Boar exhaust! Brilliant description, Pelly! Alright...*tries hard to not snicker anymore* ... We basically have two choices of cornering the boar - against the stream or within its den. Cornering it within its den will be more dangerous as it is on its own territory and will not only defend its life, but the den as well. And then tehre will be the problem of getting to the boar if it choses to hide in teh den. It will be a mission to the Halls of Mandos for the one entering the den to go after that boar. No, I think driving the beast to the banks of teh river will be favourable. And yes, we should look and try to determine in which direction teh boar has moved so we will not drive it away from the bank. Pellakal *Pellakal tethers Pferd and advances a little into the woods, his spear over his shoulder* I agree with Eorinae, we should look about for some sign. Judging by the sun, it looks to be about the early part of the afternoon. I do not think the boar would be in his abode at this time, rather he would be rooting about, looking for food. orina *whispers to Crysto and leaves him next to Pferd, take the spear and puts hand on sword and kneels to the ground, looking for tracks* Bldtunge *Looks at the base of trees, searching for displaced bark/moss or anything that would mark a boar crossing this way.*
