The First Hunt
Game Master (GM) ~ Pellakal
Wilcumen la, min Hlafordas! Welcome, friends, to the Boar Hunt of the Two Kingdoms!
In an effort to reawaken an old custom that has been the joy and bane of many well known riders, Braganil of Gondor and Pellakal of Rohan grabbed up their spears in search of the Wild Boar of the Snowbourn. They were joined by Blaedtunge and Amhran, and they now ride across the plains to the area where the boar was last sighted.

Each rider is equipped with a spear, a sword, a dagger and a horn. They have ridden some 30 miles from Edoras and have now come along the banks of the Snowbourn. Infront of them lie long fields, and by the banks of the river is a dense, green forest. The riders have ridden from the west, and now have to decide whether to invade the wood from the north, driving in towards the banks of the Snowbourn, or from the west, driving parallel on the banks of the river. Either way they shall have to dismount and make their way on foor, as the terrain is not hospitable to spear-wielding riders.

4 other hunters from Rohan or Gondor may join the hunt, but it had better be soon; once the hunters have stepped into the forest none will ba able to find them untill they return!

Eorinae
(Hey, would you mind if a lowely horse trainer joines on your hunt to fine tune my skills of the sport?)

  Pellakal
(No problem Eor! *adresses the crowds of Plazanites* Okay folks, step right up, only one spot left! Perhaps another Gondorian?

Rohwyn
(Well, I'd love to assist in the hunt, but I'll wait and see if maybe another Gondorian doesn't show up first!)

Pellakal
(aye, we'd love to have you- if nothing else I have opening for the Boar!! J/K)

Braganil
Alright... *Braga hops onto his trusted horsey Rahedan, his self-made, yet nameless spear in one hand, and a horn from his wife in the other* Come on, my brothers, my spear yearns for the blood of that boar! *blows horn and watches the others cringe* WHAT?

Bereth
Can I join the hunt if I PRETEND to be a Gondorian?

Braganil
*looks wide-eyed at his sire* My Lord! What will your riders think, if you deny your noble heritage and manly Rohirric roots for the sake of a silly bloody game of chasing a boar? *hangs a black vest with a White Tree over Bereth's armour* hmmm, what do you guys think?

Pellakal
Ok! We have the hunters! Braganil, Roquen Corporal of Gondor, Bereth of G..g...g..Gondor, Rohwyn, Feldmarshal of Westmark, Pellakal and Blaedtunge, Paethfindians of the Westmark. Amhran, Sperewigend 1st cl. of Westmark, and Eorinae, Horse Trainer of the Mark.
All hunters must now assemble, greet each other and discuss which ways to approach the woods (see first post). Both ways have their advantages and disadvantages (of which only I know, bwahaha, so I won't say mush to give it away), so use your wits to decide!

Braganil
*dismounts his horse, his spear firmly in hand* I'de say let's go west! Why? I like the west, and the Snowbourn will guide us!

Pellakal
*checks Pferd's harness and looks out towards the woods and the river* We have been riding west anyway, and to go around the woods to start from the north would take a bit of time.

Amhran
Well, there are pros and cons to both sides,

West: Pros- we will be able to follow the river and the terrain will be less arduous. Cons - boars live in the thickets, not along riverbanks. If attacked by boar or other dangerous creatures, we will have the river at our backs and will not be able to escape easily.

North: we will find the boar quicker and even though running through brush is difficult it will be easier than trying to ford a river if we have to retreat for any reason. Cons - slogging through brush with a spear is a pain in the butt. It will be easire to get lost and we could get caught in brushes and ripped to shreds by the said boar.

There you have it. Personally I'd like to slog through the brush.

Bereth
*unaccustomed to her Gondorian attire, Bereth rides up and dismounts, greeting her fellow Gondorian and Pellakal, smilling with delight that her disguise works so well. (Can I be an imaginary Roquen, as long as we are dreaming here?)* I must agree with Braga, following along the riverbank for now sounds like the way to go. So did anybody think to bring hounds along on this hunt? They might be a tremendous help in tracking the evil beasties!

Pellakal
(GM: Ber- you can be king of Gondor if you want!)
*Pell looks about* Hounds? I couldn't find them in Meduseld. Where are the kennels? I for one do not know how to handle Hounds. *he finishes strapping on his pauldrons and looks at the woods again* There is another advantage to going North: we might trap the boar against the riverbank where it can go no farther.
