Fram, the son of Frumgar, is most noted as the slayer of Scatha, the great dragon of Ered Mithrin, where he won great welth. But the Dwarves claimed the hoard of the dragon. They said Scatha had stolen it from them during his raids into the dwarf-colonies in Ered Mithrin. But Fram would not give them anything and instead he send the Dwarves the teeth of Scatha made into a necklace together with these insulting words: "Jewels such as these you will not match in your treasuries, for they are hard to come by." Thus he earned the unfriendliness with the Dwarves and some say he was slain by Dwarves, but of this there is no proof. |
