Research Activities

Research Area

The major thrust of my research lies at the crossroads of chemistry, and biology. My current research efforts are focused in the anticonvulsant drug design based on molecular modeling, structure-based drug design, and rational approach like pharmacophore-based design and virtual database screening for development of new drugs. My group is currently working on three general drug development areas with the focus aimed at the elucidation of the mechanisms of novel anticonvulsant, antitubercular, and  compounds useful for the trreatment of neuropathic pain.

The research is also focused in determining the molecular mechanism of certain anticonvulsant compounds and antiallodynic agents in the rat brain. Our work focuses on the design of novel antiallodynic and antihyperalgesic agents for the treatment of neuropathic pain and computer-aided design of novel antimycobacterials.
