Citation: While engaged in repelling an attack of the enemy, received a severe wound of the right arm, but instead of retiring remained at the front in command of the regiment.

Rank and organization: Captain, Co A, 140th Pennsylvania Inf. Born: Green County, Pa. Issued: 5 Apr 1898. Citation: While a sergeant and retiring with his company before the rapid advance of the enemy at Gettysburg, he and a companion stopped and carried to a place of safety a wounded and helpless comrade; in this act both he and his companion were severely wounded. A year later, at Reams Station, Va, while commanding a skirmish line, voluntarily assisted in checking a flank movement of the enemy, and while so doing was severely wounded, suffering the loss of an arm.

Rank and organization: Lt, Co A, 140th Pennsylvania Inf. Inducted: Greene County, Pa. Dare of issue: 30 Oct 1896. Citation: Voluntarily assisted a wounded comrade to a place of apparent safety while the enemy were in close proximity; he received the fire of the enemy and a wound which resulted in the amputation of his left leg.

CLlFFORD, ROBERT T. August 22, 1863
Rank and organization: Master-at-Arms, USN. DOB 1835, Pennsylvania. Accredited to: Pennsylvania. G.O.#45, 31 Dec 1864. Citation: Served on board the USS Shokokon at New Topsail Inlet off Wilmington, N.C, 22 Aug 1863. Participating in a strategic plan to destroy an enemy schooner, Clifford aided in the portage of a dinghy across the narrow neck of land separating the sea from the sound. Launching the boat in the sound, the crew approached the enemy from the rear and Clifford gallantly crept into the rebel camp and counted the men who outnumbered his party 3 to 1. Returning to his men, he ordered a charge in which the enemy was routed, leaving behind a schooner and a quantity of supplies.

CORSON, JOSEPH K. October 14, 1863
Near Bristoe Station
Rank and organization: Asst Surgeon, 6th Pennsylvania Reserves (35th Pennsylvania Volunteers). Inducted: Philadelphia, Pa. DOB 26 Nov 1836, Plymouth Meeting, Montgomery County, Pa. Issued: 13 May 1899. Citation: With one companion returned in the face of the enemy's heavy artillery fire and removed to a place of safety a severely wounded soldier who had been left behind as the regiment fell back.

DOUGHERTY, MICHAEL October 12, 1863

Rank and organization: Pvt, Co B, 13th Pennsylvania Cav. Inducted: Philadelphia, Pa. DOB 10 May 1844, Ireland. Issued: 23 Jan 1897. Citation: At the head of a detachment of his company dashed across an open field, exposed to a deadly fire from the enemy, and succeeded in dislodging them from an unoccupied house, which he and his comrades defended for several hours against repeated attacks, thus preventing the enemy from flanking the position of the Union forces

Issued: 3I Jan 1889. Citation: Saved from capture a gun of the 5th Maine Battery. Voluntarily carried orders which resulted in saving from destruction or capture the picket line of the 1st Division, 2d Army Corps.

Rank and organization: Captain, Co F, 109th Pennsylvania Inf. Inducted: Philadelphia, Pa. Born. 9 Nov 1832, Bridgeton, N.J. Issued: 17 Jan 1894. Citation: Gallantry in action manifesting throughout the engagement coolness, zeal, judgment, and courage. His horse was shot from under him and he was hit by 4 enemy bullets.
