My dear Folks
I received fathers letter in due time but neglected to acknowledge the receipt of it in my last. Mothers and sisters letter was received one or two days after I mailed my last to sister.
Newells health is much improved. I have had a severe cold for several weeks it is better this morning I think last night I went over to the spring and took a bath which did it good I think.
Our regiment commenced drilling in the bayonet exercise this morning for the first time.
Stetson has not got back yet so I can not tell you whether the things you sent me, for which I am very much obliged, are all right or not.
I received a letter from him a few days ago in which he stated that he was drilling recruits and did not know when he should come back.
The last week there was considerable canonading done by the battery near here but without any material effect other than considerable noise, and the practice of the men.
Last sunday we buried the fourth man since we left Michigan from our company there have been seven discharged.
When does father propose to go to White Lake to keep a store.
I received a letter from H.O. Connor a few days ago he did not think so much of the Lancers as he used to.
