CD Review for New Found Glory- S/T

And my last review just got erased and now I'm angry.  This cd is not very good compared to Nothing Gold Can Stay and that angered me a great deal.  The lyrics have changed to Jordan telling what people should do in relationships and no longer sharing his feelings and experiences, which I thought was much better.  So yeah, that pissed me off.  The vocals are better though, as Jordan's voice has matured nicely.  The guitars have gotten worse...and better.  The chorus parts are pretty bad (along with the lyrics) but the verses are incredible with lots of cool palm mutes, which I dig. The whole thing isn't bad, because it has some moments, but overall it isn't as if it's one record...it's more like two, a good one and a bad one.  When the new video for Hit Or Miss comes out (Another video for the same song but a different version...what's with that?)  i could see it getting a lot of airplay cause the idiots who like songs for repetetiveness will enjoy it so they can sing along, although they could have chosen a better song than Hit Or Miss to make a video for(like anything else from Nothing Gold Can Stay).  But yeah, that's all I'm gonna say, I'd still suggest buying it cause it's a good listen (the first couple of times) but I think I'm just bitter cause it doesn't stand up to the previous album.

This gets a disappointing 81/100 because it seems to be getting...less punk and more mainstream I guess.(sorry Mike)

CD Review for A New Found Glory- Nothing Gold Can Stay

When I first heard these guys, it was because I heard they were playing a show in Sept. with Saves The Day and Alkaline Trio, who I like.  I went to their site and downloaded Hit Or Miss.  Man was I surprised.  It was like a faster and heavier Saves The Day.  Not that A New Found Glory doesn't have their own sound, that's just what I thought of first, and that's why I downloaded more songs, then ordered the CD.  The singer has a really cool high teenage voice that he can throw around easily, and it just sounds amazing.  The guitars are usually one low and one high, which kind of reminded me of Bigwig, but it doesn't sound like them.  They seem to enjoy slow versus and fast chorus', but it is all over the place usually and I can't wait to see them live.  Their isn't really a bad song on here except perhaps 2's And 3's, which isn't too melodic and jumps around too much for me(update Nov19, this is an amazing song, I was just an idiot).  I would definitely suggest you take a listen to the mp3's, these guys are a kick ass band.

This CD will recieve 91/100 because some of the songs do sound similar, but it's still a great cd.

CD Review for A New Found Glory- It's All About The Girls

I got this at the New Found Glory concert, and frankly I didn't expect too much.  I'm satisfied with this.  It's not all that great, but again I didn't expect it to be.  The singer(Jordan)'s voice hasn't matured fully, but it still sounds okay.  The guitars are a little bland and repetative, and the recording quality isn't very good, but what can ya do?  Anyway, there's five songs, and all are mediocre.  Each one has its moments but also its downturns.  I think you should only get this if you're a hardcore New Found Glory fan.  That's all I'm gonna write.

This gets a 70/100

CD Review for New Found Glory-S/T

This is the newest CD by New Found Glory (they dropped the A).
Honestly I listened to the mp3s on their website before I went to their concert
and thought that the CD was going to be much softer.  However, when I bought the CD at the concert and listened to it at home I was pleased with the new sound.
It is still similar to "Nothing Gold Can Stay" yet a lighter sound not
necessarily soft.  This CD is really strange because I realize that their other
CD was much deeper while this one seems to have a pop sound to it, and somehow I enjoy listening to this CD more.  Since I bought it a couple months ago I have listened to it a lot, 2nd only to Over It- "The Ready Series".  I love New Found Glory and they seem to have been able to combine their style of punk with a more repetitive and pop sound.  Most people will think this means it is a weak CD or they are going soft but I still like it and I think it will be well accepted.
The first 3 songs are a great beginning to the CD and by the third song I am
completely captivated.  There are a bunch of really good songs on this CD and a
couple weak ones that still aren't that bad, I listen to the CD from beginning
to end almost every time.  The lyrics of this CD are alright but probably not as
good as the last one.  There are a couple songs that have pretty weak lyrics
that are just repeated a couple times (Boy Crazy).  What makes up for any loose
ends in this CD is more than compensated for by their sound.  I love how every instrument works together and I think Jordan's vocals are superior to just about everyone else.  Also New Found Glory were amazing live, never before have I seen such energy on stage, and I have seen tons of goods bands live (Bigwig, Reset, No Use, Everyone on the last two Warped Tours, and more).  Anyway this CD is good but New Found Glory has lots of room to improve and I am looking forward to the next CD.
I give this CD a solid 90/100.  Technically it has a few faults but I really
enjoy listening to the CD and that is the most important thing.

CD Review for A New Found Glory- Nothing Gold Can Sta
y

Last weekend I went with Dave and some others to a punk store in Orillia and I bought four new CDs.  Nothing Gold Can Stay, Punk goes Metal, Playing 4 Square, and Before you were Punk 2 (Dave bought 3 including Punk goes Metal).  Since then I have barely listened to any of the CDs except for Nothing Gold Can Stay.  This CD has been going constantly at my house and I like it more every time I hear it.  Like Dave said in his review NFG is a lot like Saves the Day except the lead vocals are higher and I think overall NFG is much better than Saves the Day.  The guitars are extremely well done, they keep the adrenaline pumping and are a great compliment for the vocals.  I never thought high vocals could be powerful and strong without being kind of whiny like Saves the Day, but A New Found Glory proved me wrong.  I love the vocals throughout the CD they blow me away every time I listen.  One of the things that impresses me most about NFG is that they are fairly young and still are very tight musically.  It seems as though they put a lot of effort into their melodies and trying to mix the strong guitars and still match the vocals.  Their efforts paid off because the result
was a unique, powerful, and tight sound.  A New Found Glory has quickly become
one of my favorite bands and I can't wait for the next CD to come out.

I give this CD a 94 out of 100.  I love this CD from start to finish, it's an
amazing CD and keeps you breathless and captivated throughout.
