CD Review for Alkaline Trio- From Here To Infirmary

Thank god it's finally here!  My wishes have been granted and they seemed to stray a little bit from the direction they were heading with Maybe I'll Catch Fire, and have followed the path of their newest EP I Lied My Face.  This CD is much harder and faster than the previous full length, and actually it's faster than most of the stuff they've done.  The music has matured while the vocals haven't changed all that much, and I have no problem with that.  Matt's voice has changed a little, he's seems angrier but it's not like he yells or anything.  I'm beginning to like Dan's voice more, but he has the worst song on the CD with Another Innocent Girl, which is sub-par.  I do enjoy Take Lots With Alcohol and I'm Dying Tomorrow, those are pretty catchy.  I do find that every song on this CD followed a formula set up before hand,
intro, verse1, intro, verse2, chorus, bridge, verse1, chorus
everytime.  I don't it all too much but I kinda wished they changed it up a little bit more.  So yeah, that's it, go buy this album because it may be as good as Goddammit.

This gets a well deserved 96/100

CD Review for Alkaline Trio- Alkaline
Trio

This is my second time writing this because the first one got erased and now Im really frustrated.  Anyway, go get this CD, it is really good.  I like it.  Im glad I bought it.  I think you should do the same because it is a good CD.  A little slow for some people but I thoroughly enjoy it.  The vocals are amazing and the guitars fit well with it.  The lyrics are very inspiring and very well written, with lots of emotion.  So, go buy this CD because it is really good.  GO BUY IT BECAUSE IT IS GOOD.  If I get the time Ill write a better review for this, but until then this is staying up.

This CD gets 90/100

CD Review for Alkaline Trio- Maybe I'll Catch F
ire

All I can say...is disappointment.  After hearing Alkaline Trio's self title and Goddammit I was pumped for this album, but it really let me down.  The problem I think is it just got too slow.  The lyrics have gotten more dark than I have ever seen, and the lead singer sings only seven songs (as the CD has only ten and the other singer Dan sings three of them).  If you are a big Alkaline Trio fan try picking it up, otherwise take a listen to it first and see if you like it.  Not that the whole CD is bad, just overall it was a let down from all their other stuff.  I think the new CD will be better because the newest five songs they've recorded have been pretty fast and hard and it still keeps what Alkaline Trio is, in the music.  Anyway, so if you're going to buy Alkaline Trio CDs, I suggest starting with the self title and Godda
mmit.

I've got to give this CD a sub par 73/100.

CD Review for Alkaline Trio- Godd
ammit

This is by far Alkaline Trio's best work!  All the way through this CD proves that these guys are for real, and it's their first full length, which shows how talented they really are.  It's a kind of Pop/Melodic/Slow punk that really catches me.  The guitars are Matt's best work so far, usually relatively fast and catchy, but not in the normal style(usually a little higher pitched).  Dan's bass lines are fast and sound really hard, but fit in perfectly with the guitars and well placed drums.  Again, the lyrics push through as my mine draw for liking these guys.  Thoughtful, truthful and touching, it really sounds like Matt is writing poetry.  Dan also sings two songs, one of which is one of the two acoustic songs on the CD.  Matt's acoustic song Sorry About That is by far my favorite track on the CD, which is really weird because I always like the faster paced stuff, but hey, change can be good.  Anyway, I'll put up an MP3 that shows their slow, melodic style and also their fast paced, louder stuff; all in one song.  This is one kick ass CD so go buy it, it is the shit.

This CD gets a well deserved 94/100

CD Review for Alkaline Trio- Goddammit
Alkaline Trio sounds completely different from anything I've ever heard.  The lead vocals are hard to describe; they almost sound acidy or bitter.  I thought this would annoy me much like Saves the Day did but Alkaline Trio seems to be an exception.  There's something about his voice that adds an extra dimension to their music.  Listen to the MP3's and you will understand.  I love the guitars and accoustic songs are really well done.  I think one of the main reasons I like this CD so much is because it is completely different from anything else out there.  It is a little mellower than the rest of the stuff I listen to but still not weak at all.

This CD gets a well deserved 90 out of 100.  If you like the MP3's then you will love the CD.  There are a lot of surprises on this CD.
