Review for StandOff- Lamer

When I first heard these guys on my Punk Ass Generosity Comp. I was stoked cause they sounded pretty sweet.  Then I found their website and I downloaded two more songs, and I was even more pleased.  Eventually I ordered the CD from the Fastmusic site with some other shit.  For a six song E.P. from a first time band who are only about 17-19 years old, these guys fuckin rock.  From what Mike has told me he doesn't like them too much, but when their new E.P. comes out I think he'll change his mind.  All six of these songs are pretty good excluding maybe New Deal, which doesn't sound all that great.  Their sound reminds me of Diesel Boy/NOFX type deal, cool flat vocals and fast guitars all the time.  Give the mp3s a chance and if you like it buy the CD from Fastmusic.com.

This CD gets a 83/100 (it would get more but it only has six songs)

Review for StandOff- Lamer

StandOff is a young band with a lot of potential.  They are currently evolving musically but have not quite yet found the mark.  I thought this CD was just an average punk CD that was really short, but when Dave told me they were 18 or so I realized that they have probably not pinned down their sound yet and do have plenty of time to grow as a band.  Their songs on this CD were pretty standard punk songs with some resemblences to Diesel Boy/ 88 Fingers Louie.  Hopefully they will try to sound a little more like themselves once they discover their sound.  The CD is only about 18 minutes with 6 songs and only costs about $6.  Personally I would only pay $3 but that may be because I'm cheap.  I wasn't too impressed with this CD but I am interested in what StandOff will do next.  I wouldn't suggest buying this CD but I would recommend keeping an eye out for them in the future.

I will give this CD a 72/100 (I would give it less but I might regret it later)  I am expecting a better product from them in the future.
