| CD Review for Osker- Idle Will Kill Wow! All I can say is this is one incredible cd. After hearing Motionless on the Epitaph website I bought the cd expecting the same old fast and angry Osker that was located on Treatment 5, but I was wrong. This cd is...well...in my opinion is a work of art. I mean, jeez, Devon (the singer and guitarist) and Dave the bass player are only 19 years old. This album is so mature lyrically and musically. It has slowed down but has lost none of its catchiness and replayablity. I'm stunned about such a rapid transformation. Ignorant punks who cannot respect change for the 'better', in my opinion of course, and call them sellouts are moronic. Osker is doing what they want, and trust me, it's not going to get them played on the radio or on MTV or anything like that. I'll post a rather medium paced song so you can judge this is the median of this record. There isn't really a bad song on here, wow I love this cd. Give it a chance and see if it grows on you too. Chow. This gets a well deserved 94/100 Best Songs (Strangled, Kinetic, and Contention) Review by Dave Norman CD Review for Osker- Treatment 5 When I first heard Osker's song Alright on Punk-O-Rama 3 I was looking forward to newer material. Then I heard Lucky on Punk-O-Rama 4 and I was kind of disappointed. Then my brother bought the CD because he liked some MP3s I downloaded from their site. I am very thankful that he did so because I love this freakin CD. At first I didn't like the lead singer's voice, but I really grew to appreciate it. It sounds kind of whiny with a kind of fake accent or something, but believe me, it's pretty cool. The guitars are relatively good all the way through the CD, but the bass is amazing all the way through. The three things go together really well. Also, the band does move around in their music style throughout the CD. Just try listening to I Cannot, then 13, then Dying, then Radio. I Cannot is a really well written song that is fast and melodic. 13 is a really cool slow melodic song with lyrics that remind me of Alkaline Trio, full of hidden emotional feelings and stuff. Dying is an angry fast paced song that just doesn't slow down. And finally Radio is a kind of depressing slow song that will have you singing the chorus in no time. I find Osker tends to repeat verses and chorus' a lot, which can sometimes seem a little repetitive, but it makes it easy to sing along to. I have a feeling Mike Case won't like this CD too much, but oh well. This is one damn ass cool bitch CD. I gotta give this an 91/100 Best Songs(13, Radio and Asshole) Review by Dave Norman |
CD Review for Osker- Treatment 5 This CD has quality music on it but nothing really special. Don't get me wrong it is a good CD but is nowhere near the level of most of the other CDs we have reviewed. The guitars are decent and consistent throughout the CD. The vocals are dirty but still fairly easy to listen to. The overall sound is a dirty, aggressive, angry one with a strong beat. This CD is filled with 18 songs that are all decent, the only problem is that many of them sound the same. The key to whether or not you should buy this CD comes down to if you like the MP3s because you are going to get that sound for the entire album. Also you should consider what other CDs you don't have I would recommend this CD if you have a lot of cash to spend and you already have most of the other CDs we reviewed. I have heard that Osker is interesting to see live because they usually don't get to finish their set because they abuse the crowd and get kicked out by the club manager. Dave and I are going to see them live in Toronto when they play with Guttermouth so I am looking forward to what happens when they get on stage. I give this CD a slightly above average 88 out of 100. The songs get stuck in your head but are kind of repetitive. The MP3s are worth checking out to see if you like them. |
