| CD Review for Gob- The World According to... Why is it almost all the bands I like are coming out with new albums that just aren't them. There's the Suicide Machines, Satanic Surfers, Chixdiggit, MxPx and now Gob. Yes, the rumours are true. This band sure seems like they are selling out big time. This CD isn't really even punk, it's more mainstream alternative stuff that doesn't fit them very well. It seems like the band is trying to play more complicated stuff to get recognition or not be called talentless. For me that really makes them look like sell-outs. I'm sure you've heard the new single by these Canadian boys, I Hear You Calling...but the album is believe it or not much worse than this. I really don't think there is one song worth putting up on this site beause they are all sub par at best. Tom is trying to be too melodic, as he isn't singing punk anymore. The guitars are too experimental for punk also, and this seems like they are just trying to win critics over, not fans. And for GOD's sake, don't repeat one sentence 36 times in one song, that is called being overly REPETATIVE!!!(this horrible display happens in It Has Been So Long) If you are big into Gob (and I mean really BIG) or you like alternative, then get this and you might like it. I, on the other hand, was yet again very disappointed by another great band going down the goddamn shitter. This gets a dissappointing 40/100, I mean come you guys, I know you can do better than this.
