Dave's Reviews
CD Review for Choke- Needless To Say

Alrighty, I put reviewing this CD off for over a month now because I didn't know exactly how I felt about it.  To tell you the truth I'm still a little confused.  I mean, it's a pretty good CD, and it doesn't sound like anything I've ever heard before, which is a good thing.  But I don't know exactly what to say about it.  The guitar can sound really complex and cool, or really complex and crappy.  The singing can be really cool, or really off.  The singer's voice is QUITE whiny so be prepared, but the background singer's voice compliments VERY well.  I think the lead singer's voice fits in really well on some songs, especially Turd Farmer (here for download) or Nothing.  The lyrical content is well written, nothing of great importance though (except Bent On Profit, which has very good lyrics), but I enjoy them.  But yeah, some songs are really melodic and good, others are repetitive and strange sounding. That's all I can really say about this album.  Give it a listen (or 10, like I did until I liked them).  This is much more melodic than the new album Foreward, which I may review sometime in the future.  I'd call it an original but mediocre album for a new band from Canada.

This gets a so-so 75/100
