CD Review for Buck Wild- Beat Me Silly
All I can say is...I love this freakin CD. From the first time I heard Flowerstand Girl and Artificial Love I knew I would like these guys a lot. I like many bands at first when I get the CD and then I tire of them, but I purchased this early 1999 (it now being mid-2000) and I still thoroughly enjoy it. Although it only has ten songs, only one of them is sub-par and the rest are wicked. I hope to hell I can see them live sometime if they record some new shit (which I hope to hell they do). So, this CD pretty much has everything I like about punk music, except the lyrics seem a little bland at times, and no big message is displayed...not that it has to be. Anyway, the vocals are kick ass and the lyrics are catchy (you'll find yourself singing along in no time) and the guitars are fast and heavy, which I like. Think of this CD as a faster, louder, snottier version of Lagwagon. They sound kinda different but the lead singer and guitarist, Shawn Dewey, was the original guitarist for Lagwagon. Personally, if Buck Wild has 4 albums this good, I would like them more than I would like Lagwagon. Take a listen to these MP3s then go buy Beat Me Silly, you won't be disappointed!!!
This CD gets a kickass 95/100...cause it kicks ass!!! Best Songs(Artificial Love, Just In Time, and The Letter) Review By Dave Norman |

CD Review for Buck Wild- Beat Me Silly
I am not going to bother trying to describe Buck Wild's sound because I have a hard time trying to compare it to anything even though it reminds me of a few bands. Plus Dave already did that and honestly I am a lazy bastard. Dave got this CD a long time ago and our tastes in music have changed a lot since then. A year ago I was obsessed with Screeching Weasel and then moved on to The Ataris. This CD has always been solid because of its consistency. There are no weak songs but I don't think any really stand out or move you like some songs of other bands. Even with bands I don't really like there is always at least one song that grabs your attention. They are a band kind of like Guttermouth because of their attitude and humour. This is a short review (if anyone has a problem with that please e-mail me so I can tell dave to write more for me.)
This is a solid CD but has nothing that really gets me excited. I will give it a 86 out of 100. |
