This was the best gig I've been at in a long time. Meeting many friends I hadn't seen in a long-time and of course finally meeting Martin from Gurkha (who I've been talking to for ages on the net). The whole thing started off in Phibsboro at 3 o'clock with some fantastic photographs of Harry and early eighties punks from around Dublin (some who are still active within the punk scene). DJs Val and Brayo played a few good tunes before Coitus.
Coitus have played some gigs every now and again since breaking up and are still just as heavy and full of hatred as they ever were! Harry's mother came up to the front during the set, and afterwards Val presented her with a bouquet of flowers.
Next up were Dread Messiah with a friend of there's Graham doing the vocals. He was an outstanding front man, the riffs were as evil sounding as ever and really got everyone going. After watching the infamous video documentary of Stokey Punks. Everyone got something to eat and made their way to the Voodoo Lounge venue to see Coitus,
Dread Messiah, Paranoid Visions and The Restarts. I'm still suffering from such a long night of boozing (it's something I don't do much of anymore). The photo's aren't the best (as usual) but hope it gives an idea |
