(B) Can you explain Scope triangle?

‘Scope triangle’ is also termed as ‘Quality triangle’. Triangle shows the relationships

between three important aspects of the project first is the time to deliver the project, cost which represents the money for the project and what quality/standard you need to maintain in the project. Figure ‘Scope triangle’ explains how these three aspects form a triangle.

Figure: - Scope Triangle

Figure: - One factor fixed-normal

In normal situation one of the factors is fixed and the other two can vary. For

instance figure ‘One factor fixed-normal’ shows with one fixed factor and the other varying the triangle still persists. In short if the triangle is complete it means project is under control.

Figure: - Two Factor Fixed-Abnormal

Now see figure ‘Two factor fixed –abnormal’ where the time is less than the other two aspects i.e. cost and quality. You can see how the triangle does not complete by itself. We can term the gap between ‘time’ and ‘quality’ as scope creep.
